8 3 If He Haunts You

The landscape of heaven is incorrigible. Millions of souls escaping into the abyss, huge pillars falling down, crashing into divine dust. The sky seemed to revolve around heaven, going in circles, a beautiful landscape of a vivid rainbow covering everything, lights reflecting through the falling tower of Shire Towey and the smell of blood in the air. Lori ran towards the darkness upon his white horse, Happiness rolled down the rocks and was chased by lesser demons.

All the gods held weapons, it was happening again. The war between gods and demons. And it made the mortal sky beseeched in red, like a murdered widow. It ran of dry tears, the water felt life-taking, sterile and full of ghosts as Annelece watched the droplets pitter patter on the window pane. He turned his head and watched Adelaida sit before him, she looked so fragile. Her eyes had a light to them, a light you see when you know your end is near, her hair dry and frizzy, he knew she had been crying.

Jevelene stood before the Shire Towey, and as she grew closer to it, she heard the inner workings of a clock, a massive clock with its bolts, axles, and screws. Its gigantic glow, lit up the heavenly sky in millions of colours, with a small pendulum hanging under it, going forwards and back, forwards and back, forward, back, forward, back.

Jevelene's eyes traced the pendulum, with was fifteen seconds away from striking twelve. Forwards and back. Fourteen. Forwards and back. Thirteen. Forwards and back. Twelve. The last twelve seconds of her existence, hers and everything she loved. Life, she loved life. She wanted to love it a little bit longer. She wanted to stay a little bit longer.

Because life was warm.
Cold, Agile,
Strengthing, golden

Forwards, back.

Ruthlessly nurturing.

Forwards, back.

Ever-growing mysterious,
Everything that lives, hates life.
Yet, when one knows, that leave it must,

One's primal instinct hovers not to surrender
But to resist.

Vierne opened her right eye, with a considerable amount of strength as it won't open at all. She lay on the floor, laying upon a puddle of her blood. The left side of her face would not move, and her left eye won't open. She got up on her elbows and looked at Lict, who was slowly removing her amour, but watching her body move, he looked at her and smiled, but he said nothing.

She wanted to speak, but her lips won't move. Her face seemed to be paralysed, and her facial bones were still disfigured, even though the skin above them had healed, the bones did not. Lict removed his cloak and wrapped it around her, covering her withering body, the marks of her mortal self, and her undone armour, "We are soon to become only energies,"

There was so much she wanted to say, but only tears of blood melted through her mutilated face. He laughed, "You weep as a child,"
"How are you not afraid?" She spoke in her mind and he heard her.
"Who says I am not?" He looked into her eyes, "I am afraid. It's separating us...The world's end. Inevitably turn to stardust, you and I... And in the cosmic emptiness...I will reach for you"

They held each other tightly, as they swung, forward and back but suddenly they heard the echoes of a spinning sky, "My lady!" Vierne opened her eyes and looked at a dark shadow, merging into a haze of drunken nature, "Annelece?" She called out, softly. The shadow moved towards her, the fog of incertitude melted upon her black face, her skin like black coffee, a hint of cherries floating on top of it, like her flushed cheek and her silver eyes, "My lady," She called out again and got on one knee.

Lict turned back and looked at her. She stood before them, under the shadows cast by the bars on the windows in the castle, her silver hair tied in a thin braid behind her head and her hat resting upon it, she wore a dark grey dress and held a fat, black book with her, a book with black pages.Vierne looked at her and she touched Vierne's hands with her lips and left them with a small pouch full of seeds.
