Layla

Apparently, Oak Park was right near my college.

It was nearly 8 pm and I was currently hiding behind a tree waiting on Landon and Andre.

I know what I was doing was completely and utterly stupid but I couldn't let Landon get hurt.

As much as I was still so mad at him, I loved him.

I watched as sleek black cars pulled up around the park.

Men covered in black that held large guns in their hands surrounded the park, but one particular person stood out to me.

There he was in all his glory, Landon.

I watched as he walked through the park, a cigarette hanging from his mouth as his tall figure strides towards the centre.

From the opposite direction, Matteo was walking towards him too.

Though the difference was, Matteo was by himself.

Or at least I thought he was.

The two males met at the centre.

Landon towered over Matteo easily, as he handed him a rolled-up paper.

Matteo took it into his hands and read over it with a sly smile gracing his lips.

But as I stood there watching the scene, I noticed Landon take his gun out.

In a matter of seconds, Matteo fell to the ground as the bullet went straight through his heart.

Landon watched him bleed mercilessly on the ground.

In the corner of my eye, I see movement behind Landon.

My eyes fall on Dante who stood behind Landon with a gun pointing towards him.

Before I knew it I jumped behind Landon as the trigger went off.

Dante's eyes widened and I looked down at my stomach to see blood gushing out of it.

It was like I was numb but then as I fell to the ground the pain coursed through me like a damn hit to a car.

Dante ran over to me and lifted my head up before it could hit the ground.

I heard more gunshots go out around me as my eyes began to water and become hazy.

"Layla, shit, I'm so sorry." Dante says hurriedly as he holds me in his arms.

"Why would you jump in front of him." He says angrily as concern writes all over his face.

Then in a very quick motion, a gunshot was heard from behind me and Dante was on the ground lying lifelessly.

I felt arms pick me up as they wrapped around my legs and waist.

My vision was becoming blurry but I could still see my favourite pair of grey eyes.

They were filled with so many emotions running through them.

This was the most emotion I've ever seen in them before.

But the one that stood out the most and the one emotion I could see written all over him was shocking to me.

Landon was scared.

"Layla, don't close your eyes." Landon says as he rushes us to his car.

I start coughing and feel the pain in my stomach increase.

I listen to Landon and attempt to keep my eyes open, though I don't think I could possibly hold it for any longer.

Landon placed me in the back seat and laid me down before going over to the driver's side and speeded crazily down the street.

The pain was only getting worse and my eyes began to shut automatically.

It was like a force shutting down on my eyes.

"Layla, keep them open." Landon says sternly as he runs through a red light.

"It hurts Landon." I say so quietly that I could hardly hear myself.

"I know baby." He replies as he stopped the car for the first time during the short ride.

He got out and slammed the back door open and picked me up.

I laid my head on his chest feeling at peace.

I then closed my eyes and felt myself slowly drifting off.

"Layla, please," Landon says desperately.

I open my eyes slowly and look up at his grey ones.

All of a sudden I'm being taken from his arms and onto something hard.

I watch as doctors surrounded me and start taking me into a room.

My vision begins to go black as the last thing I saw was Landons scared grey eyes.

A loud beeping sound wakes me up from my slumber.

I open my eyes only to see myself in a dark room.

I frowned confused, as I felt nothing.

My body felt numb and then do I only remember what happened.

I tried sitting up but I was stopped as I looked down to my hands that were covered in cords, that were attached to machines.

I frantically look around the room but hardly see anything.

But then I spot a figure sitting down on a chair near the window.

The light of the bright moon shone down on his black hair.

His face was in his hands as his body was held tense.

"Landon?" I whisper out making me cringe at how croaky my voice was.

His head shot up and his dull grey eyes landed on mine.

He stood up and walked over to me without breaking eye contact with me once.

He took my hand in his and kissed it as he smiled down at me.

"Your okay." He whispers as he takes his other hand and caresses my cheek.

I lean into his touch as I feel my eyes water.

A tear rolls down my cheek, he leans down and kisses the tear away.

He then leans back and faces me.

Our eyes stayed locked on each others.

"I love you, Layla" He says.

My heart dropped at his words as I felt myself go completely still.

His eyes stay on mine as he rubs soothing circles on my hands.

"So much." He finishes and places his lips on mine.

I close my eyes and nearly sigh at the feel of his lips on mine.

I melt into the kiss as single teardrops fall down my cheeks.

Landon pulls away and leans his forehead against mine.

"I love you, Landon." I say and smile up at him through blurry eyes.

His eyes light up and he smiles down at me softly.

I wrap my arms around his neck and pull him to me.

His arms wrapped around my waist gently, trying not to hurt me.

I buried my head in his neck as he did the same.

We stayed like that for what felt like forever.

All I knew at that moment was that all I needed, was him.
