YOU KNEW THAT Kazuha had lost his friend when he was young. That was a topic that you only needed to mention once to make him feel terrible about himself. He felt as if it was his fault that his friend died, that he should have urged him not to fight the Raiden Shogun, or perhaps even fight for him. However, you told him multiple times, every time he got depressed about the turn the battle took, that he couldn't have stopped his friend. His friend had been too determined to see the Raiden Shogun's special fighting moves, and he died happy, because he managed to actually see the moves.

Kazuha wasn't so easily comforted, though. He pretended to be happy, pretended that your kind words actually made the loss of his friend right before his eyes, seeing the person he had loved and felt close with for so many years die in his arms, more bearable. Pretended that the voices in his head didn't call him a coward for fighting in his place, tell him to kill himself to be with his friend if he missed him so much. He was a good actor, so you ended up believing his lies, as they were expertly crafted from years of hiding his sadness.

Your anniversary of being friends with Kazuha for three years was coming up. He told you multiple times how much you being friends with him for these three years changed his heart and mind, made him feel happy to be alive, and how great of a person and a friend you were. You had a plan to celebrate this anniversary by having him visit your house in Liyue Harbor and have a party. Chef Mao of Wanmin Restaurant had agreed to make food for the occasion, as his daughter Xiangling was good friends with you as well. So everything was taken care of, except you actually asking him to come.

On the day before the party, you went to the Alcor, flagship of the great Crux Fleet and captained by none other than the greatest and most fearless captain to ever sail the seven seas, Beidou herself, to ask your friend if he wanted to come to your house the next day. The sun was setting by the time you had reached where the Alcor was anchored, just off one of the highest peaks in the Guyun Stone Forest. You had to climb the peak and fly off with a glider to land on the ship safely, as you didn't have the stamina to swim the whole way since you were weak.

As soon as you landed on the ship, you were mobbed by the crew and a few children, which you assumed were the children of the crew members, not just stowaways that Beidou allowed to be on the ship for adventure. They all asked you who you were, and why you were here. You responded by telling them your name, Y/N, and telling them that you were Kazuha's friend and here to see him. When you mentioned Kazuha's name, the crowd dispersed and left you standing alone in the middle of a ship you had never been on before. You were a little frightened, but you swallowed your fear, and went around asking people if they had seen Kaedehara Kazuha around on the boat. Most of the responses were negative, but then Beidou came out and told you exactly where he was.

Your playful friend, having seen you flying overhead, had climbed up to the top of the mast, and was sitting perched up there, looking directly down at you with his beautiful amber eyes glowing. When you made eye contact with him, he gave you a smile and laughed before jumping back down to the deck, catching himself so that he would not be hurt with a small wave of wind.

"Hello there Y/N," he said. "What do you need from me?"

"I just wanted to ask if you would be willing to come over to my house tomorrow evening, to celebrate our three years of being friends. It won't be anything special, just you and I, together, celebrating and reminiscing. What about it? Shall I expect you in the evening tomorrow?"

"You certainly may!" Kazuha exclaimed. "I'd be glad to come visit you for a celebration, dearest Y/N. I'll be there!"

You were so happy to hear this, you jumped up high into the air and cheered. The children, which were all playful children, copied you, jumping up with a cheer and landing on the ground hard, making the adults, which were most likely their parents, judging by their reactions and how willing they were to pick the children up and hug them, concerned.
