A/N- This oneshot takes place during the time when Lan Zhan, Wei Ying, Jiang Cheng, and Nie Huaisang were in Dafan Mountain and they were in the bar and the Yin Iron triggered some visions in Lan Zhan. This is just imagining that you were there and what you would do if you were there. I hope you enjoy.

<the story is edited, but it follows the same premise as the original scene>

FOR THE TENTH TIME, your eyes moved to Lan Zhan's dark ones, scanning his face over and over again.

How could a man possibly be this handsome? Seeing him sitting across from you was like seeing an angel on earth. He was so manly yet feminine, beautiful yet dangerous. It was like a shock to your senses.

"This liquor is so good," Wei Ying slurred, half-drunk already. "Drink some, Y/N."

You politely refused, pushing the bottle of wine away. You needed to keep your mind clear for the journey, especially since you had heard of ghosts and occult things happening here. If you were drunk, you couldn't fight as effectively, and you would be a burden to the team.

Next to you, you could practically feel Nie Huaisang trembling. The poor shy boy had had a panic attack after hearing that there were ghosts in this town. That and the mix of the copious amounts of liquor he had imbibed made him be in a catatonic state, slumped over his chair and trembling. You gently touched his hand, and winced when he jerked away from you and cried out, "G-ghost!"

Lan Zhan scoffed at the weakness of Wei Ying and Nie Huaisang to liquor. Like you and Jiang Cheng, he hadn't drunk anything, and for the same reason.

"Stupid brother," Jiang Cheng said, shoving Wei Ying playfully. "If we get into a fight, will you have to hide behind Y/N like she's your mother?"

You blushed and looked down at the skirt of your hanfu, feeling shy all of a sudden. Wei Wuxian was also quite handsome. Imagining him holding onto your shoulders and burying his head in your neck, hiding from the world, made you feel very shy and afraid.

Your shyness was interrupted by a loud gasp. You looked up to see Lan Zhan clutching his chest, with panic in his eyes and a glow emanating from inside his hanfu. Your instincts took hold, and you ran to his side, grabbing the two parts of his hanfu and tearing them apart, pulling the bag that held the Yin Iron out from the fold and throwing it on the table, cursing from the sudden warmth you felt emanating from it. It didn't normally feel that way. It was iron, it was supposed to be cold, but when you looked at the hand that had touched the iron, it was covered in a bright red burn, and it hurt.

You felt a trembling hand grabbing your wrist, and turned to see Lan Zhan falling towards you. You caught him, and was shocked to feel that his whole body was trembling. He held tightly onto your wrists with both of his hands now, and through clenched teeth breathed out, "Go to... the house.... the spirit house..."

"Lan Zhan, breathe for me and calm down!" you said, panicking a bit now.

"The visions..." he gasped.... "t-they hurt..."

You noticed tears streaming down his cheeks, and the digging of his nails into your skin signified that he was in great pain. You wanted to hold him in your arms, but it hurt to move them since his nails were digging so deep. You noticed blood pooling on the edges of the cuts his nails made, and prayed fervent prayers that he would stop soon. It hurt. A lot.

"You're hurting me," you cried out when the pain was too much.

Lan Zhan breathed in and out deeply and collapsed back into his chair. You pulled your arms back and crossed them over your chest, not thinking about how your light-colored hanfu would absorb the blood. You were in pain, and although it was ending now, it still limited your reasoning skills.

"Y/N... you... I hurt you..." Lan Zhan whimpered. He sounded like a scared child. This was a whole another side of him that you had never seen. It kind of scared you a bit, seeing the unbreakable Lan Wangji, Second Young Master of Cloud Recesses, so breakable. But it also made you love him more to see him be more approachable.

"It doesn't hurt too much anymore. And it helped you deal with your stress, so I don't mind too much," you said, trying to comfort him.

"I'm so sorry," he said. "I didn't mean to hurt you like that. I was just trying to get you to stay with me. I thought you were going to leave."

"I would never leave you, especially if you're in pain," you said. "I'm in love with you, obviously."

After you said that, you felt so embarrassed, you wanted to curl into a ball and die. How could you confess so bravely like that to a man you knew didn't fancy you at all? How foolish did he think you possibly were!

"Y/N. You're beautiful, and kind. I love you very much as well. But my love is already promised to someone else..."

You followed his eyes to where he was watching a sleepy, drunk Wei Ying play with all the empty bottles of wine, laughing manically.

"Oh," you said quietly. "I see. Thank you for the compliments."

"Anyway," Jiang Cheng said, trying to change the subject. "We should go check out that haunted house. If there are malevolent spirits there, we should clear them out before they harm anyone."

"I agree," you said.

As you were walking out, Lan Zhan gave your hand a squeeze.

"Thank you once again," he said softly. "You're very kind, my friend."

My friend. That title burned your heart and hurt more than any wound the Yin Iron or Lan Zhan could ever inflict upon you.

However, you would smile and bear it. For yourself, so you didn't become completely depressed, and for the team, so that they didn't get brought down by your mood.

Yet, foolishly, you still hoped to be the one to own Lan Wangji's heart.
