Chapter 17: The Reason

Gray's POV

(flash back before Natsu made the bet to Lucy)

Everything that Natsu said to Lucy was fraud. It was all a lie. The real reason that Natsu made that bet is because he is feeling something different towards Lucy. He talked to me about this.

"I stare at her always. I dreamed of her. My day is incomplete without her. I feel weird around her. Her smile brightens up my day. I don't know what's happening to me." He said

"There is only one explanation in this. Natsu you've fallen in love to Lucy." I can see the look in his face that he was shocked by what I've said

"No I'm not!" he said denying his feelings

"Why are you denying your own feelings? Can you just accept it? You can't control love if it enters you. If you already love Lucy just accept it the way it was."

"no! I can't. Not here! Why her? She's just a friend to me. I even treat her like my sister. So you are mistaken that I've fallen for her."

"You can't just forget and throw off those feelings. It's hard you know and you might get crazy, I told you."

"Forget..."

"Huhh?"

"Forget yeah I can do that! But I don't want to hurt Lucy. I'm just going to make her leave me. I'm going to think of a way for her to leave and forget about me indirectly." He said

"Your insane, Natsu! Do you think she won't be hurt if you make her leave you?! Can you use your brain for a second? What was that brain for if you are not going to use it?"

"Say what you want to say. I don't want her around me anymore." That's what he said and thinks but I know that he feels the opposite of every word he let out of his mouth.

I can't believe he said those words to Lucy. No wonder she is avoiding him. Juvia is worried about them and I don't want her to get involve of the two, so I didn't tell Juvia anything.

Natsu is a complete idiot for doing this stupid bet.

I know that he will be the loser in the end.

He will regret this thing that he done.

I know that he is genius in academics yes but I can prove that even a genius can become stupid when it comes to love.

We are taking our break and Lucy here keeps on studying even though we are eating in front of her. Everyone is around except for Natsu. Juvia and Cana are beside me and the twins are beside Lucy. Erza and Jellal are still getting their food.

"Lucy why don't you take a break for a second, nee-san is getting worried about you." Cana said

"Nee-san?" I said

"Yeah, Lucy is now my little sister." She said while raising her coffee in can

"Since when did that happened?" Juvia asked eating her sandwich

"Since we talk in the park, right Lucy?" Cana asked Lucy but she is not paying attention to any of us she keeps on scribbling something on her notebook, she is taking this seriously

"Yeah." She said not looking at Cana

"Here." Erza and Jellal came back and Erza handed Lucy a sandwich

"T-Thank you." She said and dropped her pen

"Take a break first. Everyone is worried about you." Erza said and sit next to Levy

"That's right Lu-chan, I never seen you taken a break from studying." Levy said

"We are all worried about you. You take these exams too seriously." Juvia said

"S-Sorry guys if I make you worry. Alright I guess I should take a break." Lucy said and closes every book in front of her

Lucy is messed up also. I wish her luck to win the bet. I want everything to return back to normal.
