Chapter 30: Quality Time

Tsuyu: Yeah, Kero! Especially since the Vytal Festival is in full swing now! Things are only gonna keep getting better, kero-kero!

Ochako: Nods her head. True. Turns to EmperorJirachi and starts dragging him out of the room. Well, I'm gonna go snuggle with Senpai. Happy reading, you all.

Tsuyu: Okay. Pauses and thinks about it before jumping up in surprise. HEY, KERO! Get back here, Uraraka! It's my turn to snuggle with Senpai!! Rushes after her while Ochako's evil giggling can be heard in the distance.

Chapter 30: Quality Time

It was two days later. The sound of a bell chimed from the arena, signaling the next rounds of the Vytal Festival Tournament's Doubles Round. As the stadium began to fill with people, the contestants couldn't help but feel excited and nervous at the same time.

Teams RWBY and JNPR all sat close together, as they had during the other matches. But this time, Sun and Cardin both were joining them. The rest of both of their respective teams could barely be seen over the countless other students from the different academies.

Oobleck and Port once more took their positions on commentary, chatting up the crowd by talking about how the score had gone so far. "It'll be interesting to see who makes it through these next matches. We're going to have some serious competition coming up later on. I'm most interested to see what plans people have to take on Pyrrha Nikos and whichever teammate she chooses to accompany her."

Pyrrha frowned at those words. 'Accompany me? My teammates and I are all equals. No one is accompanying me anywhere!'

"Uhm... are you okay Pyrrha?" Ruby asked hesitantly, noticing the angered and annoyed look across the spartan's face.

"Nothing. I just... I hate when people make me out to be some sort of goddess compared to everyone else. You're all just as good as me."

"Yeah, we get it." Yang nodded, patting Pyrrha's back reassuringly. "Don't sweat it too much. We all know you don't think the same way they do."

"But... it must be so irritating for you all."

Ren shook his head, reaching out and taking Pyrrha's hand as they both blushed. But instead of look away in embarrassment, Ren locked eyes with her and firmly told her. "We don't care. None of us mind what others say. What matters is that you treat us the same way we treat you. We're all friends, no matter what."

Pyrrha felt warmth flood throughout her. All she wanted was to be seen as an equal. And looking around her, she saw everyone shared the same thoughts as Ren. Leaning forward, she gently brushed her lips against his cheek, causing them both to blush even harder.

Completely unaware of the exchange between Pyrrha and Ren, Port couldn't help but snort at Oobleck's words. "Later is then, this is now. Right now we have an odd match. It was a last minute change. Coco Adele and Velvet Scarlatina of Beacon will face Haven's own Mercury Black and Emerald Sustrai."

"Hmm... I can't help but wonder why the change was made. Perhaps it was just for a bit of unpredictability." Oobleck tapped his chin in thought before shaking his head. "Oh well, I am sure that this will be a great match either way."
