That night... changed things, per se. For me. For Byounggon. For us. Seojun hadn't gotten a moment alone with me, thankfully, which meant that he wouldn't get to me as much as he had last year. I still hadn't broken the information to Byounggon about... everything, but at least he knew that I didn't like Seojun.
The nights were better, too. It was less of us being alone together, but instead it was us together, alone.
Well, alone until one night, someone yelled from outside.
"Holy shit!"
Byounggon and I looked at each other, which we had been doing before, but with more intention. I slipped out of my sleeping bag, grabbing the flashlight from the corner of the tent and unzipping the tent. It wasn't Seojun's voice, which hopefully meant I was alright.
"Is anyone there?"
"Um, hi?"
I pointed my flashlight in the direction of the voice. It was set to be dim, but I was able to see a nasty scrape on, well, whoever was standing in front of me's knee. "Oh god, you've scraped your knee. Come with me, I think I have a bunch of bandages somewhere."
The person started walking towards me, and I got him settled into the tent before brightening up my flashlight and started to grab the things I would need to head the scrape. Maybe he tripped on something and fell outside. That was the best guess.
"So, wait, who are you?"
I quickly introduced myself and Byounggon, later learning that the boy in our tent was Kim Yonghee. He asked why we were in the same tent, but Byounggon and I just shared a look before he started helping me hunt down a bandaid. He was the first one to find one, but it seemed as though we had no ointment or anything to make sure it healed properly.
"I don't have any ointment or anything, so let's hope that's okay." Byounggon held out the bandaid, and Yonghee took it with a small "thanks". Once he had it on his knee, he looked at me. "I need to get back to my cabin, but I might trip again."
I held out my flashlight. "You can use my flashlight. I'll hunt it down from you tomorrow."
Another thanks from Yonghee, a wave, and he was out the door again. Once I adjusted to the sudden darkness, I could see that Byounggon was staring at me like always.
"So," he said. I could tell he also thought Yonghee was a bit strange.
"So," I muttered back.
