Forcing themselves to walk for an hour and a half did lead them to a motel for once. Jinyoung checked them in, and Byounggon sighed as they crashed into beds.
"Finally," he mused, and Jinyoung would have scolded him if he didn't see the look on Byounggon's face and figured that this was the first time he'd seen a bed in a while.
Instead of dwelling on his now-roommates, he picked out the phone that Jaeseok had given him and dialled for the older. He only remembered what time is was when the phone rang, but Jaeseok picked up anyways.
"Yo. Are you doing alright?"
"We're fine, but..." Jinyoung sighed. "We heard sirens nearby where we're staying."
"Oh, that's never good."
"We were lucky Seunghun was awake."
Jaeseok hummed, a habit of his while thinking. God, Jinyoung missed him so much. Jaeseok was like a proper brother, nothing like the parents that he and Jinyoung had tucked behind bars. "You know what I think?"
"Yeah?"
"You've got to leave. Ideally out of the country before the news of you guys spreads too far and people start looking suspiciously at groups of five teenage boys."
Huh. Jaeseok was pretty right. "Where would we even go?"
"Well, you don't have enough to get the ideal scenario... somewhere in the countryside? Somewhere where they won't be looking at you guys too hard."
"The countriside is kind of hard with that. People know each other well in those unpopulated towns."
"Lay low." Jaeseok's shrug was evident over the phone. "Whatever you guys decide, I know it'll be right. Jinyoung, you're really smart. Every decision you make is one that I'm happy with."
Jaeseok left him with that, and Jinyoung's heart felt heavy without that grounding voice.
He turned to the room. Byounggon and Seunghun had taken one bed, close as ever, while Yonghee and Hyunsuk had crashed in the other. Three were asleep, but Hyunsuk was still awake, looking up at Jinyoung.
"You look like you miss him," Hyunsuk noted as Jinyoung squeezed in next to him.
Jinyoung nodded. "Do you miss your parents?" he asked.
Hyunsuk hummed for a moment. "I don't know," he answered, turning over to face Yonghee and ending the conversation.
