I arrived at the camp, looking around. There wasn't a single person that I recognized. Not like I expected there to be any, because this wasn't a place that I should have been in. It wasn't like I would see any of them again.
It seemed as though everyone started forming into small groups, small cliques that they had been in during previous years. I didn't have any of that, so I moved on my own and tried to stay out of it. I didn't want there to be anyone that I missed. Why would I even miss these people anyways? They were... normal.
My peace and quiet in loneliness didn't last long. Two guys that I didn't know zoned in on my from behind, and I could hear them talking about how they didn't recognize me. I personally wanted it to stay that way, but they closed in on me from either side before I could do anything.
"Hey, kid."
I ignored them.
"Kid!" One of them– the one on my right– placed his foot in front of mine in a short attempt to trip me. I ignored it, moving past.
"Gyu, he's a fucking new kid. He'll keep ignoring you."
It sounded like the one on the left was on my side, but he was still there. I continued looking down, making sure that I could place one foot down on the ground safely before switching to the other. One, two. One, two. One, two.
"Yo." The one on my left nudged (erratum: shoved) me in the side. "I get that you're new here, but at least pay attention when people are talking to do. Isn't that basic manners?"
I hadn't gone to all of those etiquette classes for nothing. He was, unfortunately, correct. I looked up at their stupid faces. "I don't want to talk to you."
"Jun, get a load of this guy!" the one on my right– "Gyu"– laughed. "So you think you're all high and mighty?"
Well, I didn't need to be here. "Can you leave me alone? I don't feel like talking to you."
Gyu tsked. "How else are you supposed to make friends here?"
"I don't want friends."
"Sure you don't," "Jun" said. I thought he was on my side!
"Sorry." I cleared my throat. "I don't want to be friends with you."
"Ouch." "Gyu" held his side, as though he was hurt. These two could make their own group, couldn't they? "Alright, do whatever you fucking want."
He shoved me (it was clear this time) forwards, and I stumbled for a moment before continuing my pattern of ones and twos.
