The doctor came out of Catherina's room and stood outside of the halls.

He thought about what he just said earlier.

"...Around two days at most."

It was a lie.

No, to be more honest, he was told to lie.

If he was to prescribe her situation accurately, Catherina would normally still have around a month or two.

But it was impossible because of that filthy stain in her mana.

"Ah, you're already done?" Emma's voice was heard as she approached him.

"...."

The doctor looked at Emma with guilt and disappointment.

"Don't look at me like that. You only did your job after all. Lying in exchange for your mother's life is considerable you know." Emma giggled.

It was Emma.

She was the one who told the doctor to lie.

It just so happens that the doctor had a situation where Emma could totally insert. His mother was imprisoned in the palace and the only way to get her out of prison is through the empress' verdict.

And Emma was the empress' rat. She used her position fully in advantage and lure in the doctor.

All because she wanted Catherina to feel miserable til her death.

'My plan is perfect.'

Emma thought that the more she spends time with Catherina, the more she'll understand her status in life. She thought that she'll appreciate Catherina more. But it was the opposite.

Instead of learning how to love Catherina's side, she came to hate her more. She came to envy her more.

"She has everything I don't have."

"She has a lovely family."

"Her life is beautiful and steady."

"She's kind and adorable."

"Why can't I just be her?"

"Why can't she just disappear?"

Alas, jealousy was indeed a grievous thing.

"Don't worry, after this, I'll send my word to the empress and ask for your mother's verdict to be revoked." She whispered.

Emma's role these days was to spy on Duke Raphael and the empress favored her for doing a great job.

"...Thank you." The doctor responded, swallowing his guilt and pride.

"Also, you didn't actually lie about my lady having two days at most. I'll make it a truth just for you." Emma smiled.

"...."

The doctor then left without saying anything. Perhaps he felt too guilty to respond.

Emma was feeding Catherina the perfect poison. Everyday.

She already noticed the signs of death and everytime she sees her like that, she can't help but be happy deep inside.

'I'm getting closer to my goal.'

"I apologize, my lady." She chuckled.

During the month that Catherina was suffering from her symptoms, Owen was experiencing a different kind of torture.

Since he got abducted, the wolf's bane scent grew more as days pass by.

He could even hardly move or breathe freely within that time span.

And it's all because Odette used him as her own rejuvenation pill.

Every night, mages would go inside his prison cell to extract the magic residing in Owen's body that's used to regress time for Odette's beauty.

And everytime they do that, it would weaken his physical body.

"Owen... Are you alright?"

"It's obvious that he's not."

"I miss Rina."

"Boohoo- Rina. I wanna see her so baaad. I miss her so much-"

Even the fairies inside Owen knew what he was thinking.

But their yearning for Catherina didn't even take a half of Owen's yearning towards her. It was him who missed her the most.

"Did you hear? Dwight's young lady is dying." A voice from the guard was heard.

"???"

This caught Owen's attention.

There were currently four guards outside Owen's prison cell and he could hear the echo of their conversation inside.

"I heard it's an unknown disease." A guard replied.

"They say she only has two days left."

"It's kinda unbelievable."

"Maybe the rumor is fake."

"Yo-Your Majesty!"

One of them greeted in surprise as soon as he saw Odette.

All the guards then bowed to greet her and they shut off their mouths.

Odette just glared at them in silence and proceeded to walk inside Owen's cell. Ash was also behind her.

"Hello, Owen." The empress uttered.

"It's her! Can't she just die already!?"

"If I could I'd love to kill her."

"Urk- I feel nauseous seeing her face."

"Boohoo- I still miss Rina."

All the fairies expressed their emotions all at once.

Owen was too weak to say something right now. He could hardly feel his limbs.

"Oh dear, you must've been so tired and all. How pitiful."

"...."

"But don't worry, all the mages told me that they almost got every bit of your mana extract. So endure til then. I'll release you two days later." She declared.

"Ah, and don't worry about that rumor regarding Rina. It's all fake." Odette added.

When Owen heard this, he felt a sense of relief.

'It's not Rina who only has two days left. It's actually Carla. Hahahaha!' The empress quietly rejoiced.

Emma's job was to poison Carla with Blue Dragon's tears and spy on Raphael Dwight as well.

But the empress didn't know that Emma was taking action on something else. She didn't know that Emma was actually disobeying her order.

Emma was bringing her a fake report.

Odette was too blinded by the reports of Emma about Raphael that she overlooked Emma too much.

Things weren't going as planned for her.

"So hang on for me okay? Two days more and we won't be seeing each other again. Count yourself lucky."

The empress then left with that statement.

*CLACK* The prison doors closed.

"...."

'It's alright. Two days will pass in no time.
