For this ritual, Sahana stepped on seven betel leaves placed on the ground one after the other. Pranav followed her while moving a nora with his feet as they moved forward.
A nora is a cylindrical stone used to ground spices.
Before this ritual the bride's saree pallu is tied to the patta bastra of the groom. This tie-up is called gatchhora.
The next ritual is Anjali - the offering :
In This ritual an offering of puffed rice is made to the sacred fire.
Abhiram handed Sahana the puffed rice and Pranav held her hands from behind her while both of them slowly pour the offering into the yagna fire.

The ritual which is performed next is Sindoor Daan which means Smearing the Vermillion

The marriage rituals conclude with Pranav smearing vermillion or sindoor on the hair parting of Sahana.
Pranav used a finger ring for the purpose – it depends on his family customs. Immediately after the sindoor daan, Sahana's head and face is covered with a new saree from Pranav's family.
