PROMPT: Name

"You nicknamed my daughter after the loch ness monster?!" -- Stephanie Meyer

BIZARRE NAME

Ri Jeong-hyeok sat down on the couch with a bowl of newly microwaved popcorn with some chili powder mixed into it. Weird? Well, blame the pregnancy cravings his wife has. She even woke him up at 3:00 in the morning to ask for some Subway sandwiches with tons of pickles and mustard on her order. Weird.

Yoon Se-ri sat beside Jeong-hyeok, intently watching Breaking Dawn Part 2. She's in her vampire phase, unfortunately. Team Jacob? Team Edward? It didn't really matter because he's still adjusting to her weird appetite and cravings, enough to occupy his thoughts rather than give the least bit of attention to his wife's teenage crush on fictional werewolves and vampires.

The iconic scene was playing where Bella just woke up after her transition from being a fragile human to a strong newborn vampire. She was looking for her daughter only to find out what Jacob did. "You nicknamed my daughter after the loch ness monster?!" shouted Bella on the screen.

Jeong-hyeok found it hilarious no matter how many times he watched it for the past month. But instead of laughter, he heard sniffles coming from Se-ri. Again, blame the pregnancy hormones. "Se Ri-ah, why are you crying this time," he asked as he rubbed her arms gently, trying to soothe her. He was trying his best not to laugh at her or else he might end up sleeping on this couch instead of beside her.

"What if I pick up weird names for our daughters? Then they'll hate me for the rest of their lives," Se-ri cried out her worries and frustrations.

"Se Ri-ah, you're the Yoon Se-ri. You're the CEO of Seri's Choice. You're part of the high-class population of South Korea," Jeong-hyeok started singing praises as he tried to reassure Se-ri. "I think you've mastered the art of being elegant and intelligent already, enough to pick beautiful names for our beautiful daughters. I trust you. And do you think I'll allow you to name our daughters something they'll hate when they grow up? Of course not!"

"I'm sorry for these unnecessary and petty breakdowns," Se-ri cried out with a cute pout on her face. Jeong-hyeok kissed her temple and brought her closer to him, leaving no space between them at all. In his arms, she will always feel comforted, protected, and loved.

"No need to say sorry, Se Ri-ah. We signed up for this. With all the weird pregnancy cravings and random breakdowns. It's part of bringing our beautiful daughters into the world and I wouldn't trade it for anything," Jeong-hyeok said lovingly.

"How did I get so lucky to have such a romantic, understanding, charming, and loving husband? I must've stopped the Korean War in my past life for me to be blessed like this," Se-ri said.

Jeong-hyeok smiled at his wife's remark. "I'm the one who's lucky," his deep dimples showed, which Se-ri loved so much.

"I hope they have your dimples," Se-ri said as she poked the dimples on Jeong-hyeok's cheeks. "They'll be heartbreakers like their eomma for sure."

They continued watching the movie until tiny pitter patter of paws were heard. It's coming from their fur baby they got before they knew about Se-ri's pregnancy. Unfortunately, it suffered the consequences of her pregnancy hormones.

"Kitty-ah, come here!" Se-ri said as she patted the space beside her, asking their pet to jump and settle itself beside her.

Mind you, their fur baby was a cute little white maltese. It was a puppy. Not a kitten.

"Do you have names in mind for our babies," Jeong-hyeok asked. "Maybe we can name one each so it'll be fair," Se-ri replied.

"I'm okay as long as you don't name either of them Kitty..." Jeong-hyeok teased Se-ri. She slapped him on the arm but still nestled her head in the crook of his neck once again. "You're so mean! Who's the one carrying huge watermelons inside her belly, huh?"

"Aigoo, my big baby! I'm only teasing you! You know I love you no matter what," Jeong-hyeok said. "But yeah, I'd like that. I want to name one of our babies," he continued.

"I like the name Choon-hee. It means spring girl. I think it's fitting since they'll be born around spring time. I love the spring season. Flowers are blooming. Maybe she'll grow up to love spring as well, it's their birthdays anyway," Se-ri laughed.

"I like the name Hwa-young. It means beautiful flower. I think it's also fitting since you've been relaxing a lot in your flower garden. It's a nice connection. Maybe she'll grow up to love flowers and help you around the garden too," Jeong-hyeok thought.

Just like that, they have decided what to name their daughters.

"Annyeong, Choon Hee-ah and Hwa Young-ah! Eomma and appa can't wait to meet you! We love you so much!" Se-ri said, softly caressing her belly which was currently nurturing and protecting their babies.

Jeong-hyeok proceeded to rub Se-ri's round belly as well. Suddenly, two kicks were felt on each side. They looked at each other and smiled widely. She even got a bit teary eyed. "It's the first time they kicked," she said, still awestrucked by the flutters she felt inside her. Now, she was even more adamant to protect her babies to the best of her abilities. Their bond would be stronger from here on.

"Maybe they wanted us to know that they loved the names we chose for them so they're excited to come out and meet us already," Jeong-hyeok said, his voice filled with excitement and love. He was just as emotional as Se-ri at this point. He still couldn't believe that he was living the life he just dreamt of living.

For the rest of the day, Se-ri still asked random food combinations and cried over the smallest of things. But then again, as a doting husband and soon-to-be father, Jeong-hyeok indulged her and did his best to appease her. Again, he wouldn't trade this feeling for anything.
