Chapter 68

Owen's POV

I was laying on the couch with Sean wrapped in my arms when I heard North's voice next to me. "Where's Jace?" I hadn't even heard him come down the stairs. Hell, I think he's quieter than Luke now. The only visible change I could see was his eyes. They were almost completely black with a red ring around them.

"He's outside sparring with Nate and Gabe. How are you feeling?" I asked as Sean and I sat up untangling from one another.

"I need to go. It's getting hard to control. Queen's upstairs taking a bath." He winced. "Someone should check on her. Um, Sean, I drank from her." That had Sean on his feet and heading up the stairs in an instant. "I didn't hurt her, Owen, I promise." He said as he walked out to find Jace.

A few moments later Nate and Gabe came walking in. "Did North find Jace?" I asked them.

"Yeah, they took off into the woods. Said they'd be back as soon as North was safe to come back." I could see the worry in Nate's eyes. I had my own concerns as well.

"Why does everyone look so worried," Eveleen asked as she came down the stairs with Sean. I noticed she had on one of North's t-shirts and a pair of shorts. Her hair was pulled back in a high ponytail and you could clearly see where he had bitten her.

"What the fuck is that, little wolf!" Gabe yelled as he inspected her neck.

She slapped his hand away. "That is none of your business, Gabriel." He flinched when she used his name. "I don't talk about what we do in the bedroom, and I won't talk about what happened with North and me either." The only thing you need to know is that the bond is completed and he did nothing without consent." She huffed as she walked out to the front porch.

"Shit," Gabe covered his face with his hands and groaned. "I could have handled that so many other fuckin ways."

"Man, you know he'd never hurt her," Nate said, slapping his back.

Gabe looked up, "Human North wouldn't, but Nyx warned that vampire North might accidentally. After what he and Jace said, seeing that bite just freaked me the fuck out. Fuckity, fuck, fuck...gentlemen, if you'll excuse me, I need to go apologize and grovel for forgiveness." He turned and headed out the door to find our pissed-off fairy.

"Is she really okay, Sean?" I asked as he came and sat back down with me.

"Yeah, she said they had, how did she phrase it..'eventful' sex after he woke up. He asked before biting her and she said she never felt like she was in danger. North put her in the tub and left when he started to feel the transition effects become too much." Sean leaned over and whispered in my ear, "Seems like you aren't the only one who likes to be controlling in bed, and I'm not the only one who enjoys it." He placed a small kiss on my ear and then leaned back with a wide grin.

Cheeky boy. I tapped his thigh five times and watched his eyes widen at my unspoken promise of five spankings later. It was my turn to flash him a wide grin.

"Where's everyone at?" Nate asked, drawing my attention away from Sean.

"Sadly the mundane world doesn't give favors or money for free," I snarked. "Victor and Kota are on a surveillance assignment, Luke and Marc are working at the diner to cover North's shifts, Brandon is at the shop, and Silas is at the Aquarium today." I paused for a moment then muttered, "I'm going to have to figure out a way to set up trusts for everyone. It will look a bit suspicious for everyone to still be banking or paying a mortgage in a hundred years with the same credentials."

"You should ask Jace or Eveleen how other immortals do it," Sean suggested.

"Kota will have to talk to his mom at some point. Same with Luke and North about Uncle." Nate pointed out. "Other than Doc Roberts, the rest of us really don't have anyone since Charlie and Pam died."
