TBATE - The third beginning

Chapter 3 The journey

Arhtur Pov:

Meeting up with the twin horns we started loading our thing on the cart and began to start our journey, even if it won't go as planned. Or at least it will be so for our parents. Since it is the first time that Nico has been on a tour with our parents at least in this way he was very intrigued by everything but stayed quiet at the same time. It was actually quite funny to see him in this state. When we were getting closer and closer to the mountains the view was majestic. 'Just like me' I heard Regis retort in my mind.

After some hours of talking with the twin horns the important talks started.

"Is it right that you two have already awakened?" asked Helen and I knew exactly what will happen.

After a short glance at me Nico answered, "Yes that is right, and we are also already at the brink to the solid red core." Even though she knew it already because that was the reason why Adam calls as little monsters it was nice being looked at like some genius for one more time. But that couldn't last.

During our first real stop at the evening Adam challenged both of us to a duel at once. First, I wanted to decline but Nico had another Idea.

"What do we get if we beat you" were the words with whom he sheered the fire.

Adam was obviously shocked that some brat would want something from him and agreed to give us something reasonable so we both stated that "we want you to sponsor us if we become adventurers or at least one of us.". Shocked our mother denied it saying that it was to dangerous but we didn't budge. Adam gave and we prepared our self.

'Nico, what element will you use?'

'I will stay with the earth element since it is my favourite, but I won't use deviants.'

'Great in that case I will use fire but also without deviants. Since Adam is a water mage it should be beneficial if I counter him, and you attack.'

'Okay Art lets do it that way.'

Oblivious to our strategy and our mental communication Adam took a leger stand. When Helen gave the get go signal, I rushed to him infusing my limbs with as much mana as possible and threw a fire ball at the distance of one meter. Everyone was perplexed. They knew we were exceptional but using an elemental attack was not something that they expected. Even our parents were slack jawed they do not know about our affinities, and they won't know about more of the until the time is right. Adam reacted fast but not fast enough to counter both my fireball and my sword attack. He stumbled back a bit just to be hit by a rock that flew from behind him. While he was distracted by our little combo attack everyone else was first confused and then even more shocked. Nico had used his magic to let him stumble forward into my wooden sword just at the right time for me to finish it. Adam had no time to even understand what had happened and fell onto the ground.

""What was that?"" Was all that was heard from our audience. We smiled at each other and said just one thing. "" Our deal still stands right?"" Adam just nodded and went back to the fire clearly down. When we went to the others too it began. Our parents questioned us why we never told them and the twin horn asked if we could do other things which we answered with a lie, that we were not able to do more. It was our luck that Adam underestimated us and that he would have defeated us if he didn't.

In the morning we packed our things and went further on our journey. After some days traveling, I realized where we were, but there was a problem. We were at the place where the bandits attack happened, but the bandits were not here. I asked if we cold stop and go back to the cliff after we had passed it since we needed to fall down that cliff.

'Arthur what are we going to do now, we can't just jump down.'

'He is right princess what do we do now? Should I play the big bad wolf and get two little children for my feast?'

'No Regis let's do something different.'

"Mom, can I go to the cliff with Nico to look at the scenery?"

Yes, but wait for us we will come to."

"No need mom we won't do something stupid"

"Let's go Nico."

'So, what is the plan, Arthur?'

'Easy I will cause a earthquake that will destroy the rock on which we are standing on.'

'Brutal and efficient I like it'

We went to the cliff and sat on the end of it with our feet dangling in the air under us was nothing for a hundred meter. Suddenly for everyone with the exception for Nico, Regis and me the earth quaked and shock. The rock began to crack and to loosen. Everyone stood frozen until they realized what had happened. Mom and Dad sprinted towards us crying to take their hands, to get away from the cliff or to save us in any other way but it was to late (or so it seems to them.

Alice Pov:

One of my boys Arthur came to me and asked to go to the cliff with Nico our other boy. At first, I was hesitant because there are mana beasts around and also bandits but after he told me that he would watch out and he also told me that they are not weak. I gave in. I knew that but they are still my boys. What will happen when they learn that they will get a new sibling. Will they grow up even faster?

We of course stayed close by and didn't let them out of our sight.

Suddenly everything shook. I thought that it was an explosion or a mana beast at first, but it seems to be a earthquake nothing bad. But before I could relax Reynolds and Adam rushed by me. I didn't understand why but then I saw it. The rock on which my boys sat started moving IT SPLIT FROM THE CLIF AND FELL DOWN WITH MY BOYS. NO THAT COULD NOT HAPPEN I WAS THE ONE THAT GAVE THEM THE PERMISSION. Everything started to get wobbly, and the world started turning before everything got dark.

I woke up and at first, I thought everything had been a dream but then I saw the sullen expressions on everybody's faces.

"Where are they? Where are Nico and Arthur?" I shouted but no one answered Reynolds came to me and pulled me into a hug and told me over and over again that it wasn't my fault, but I knew it I have killed my children. 'Why? Why? what have they done to me? Why am I so a miserable mother?'

"You have to stay strong honey" Reynolds told me between sobs. "They are gone but we have to move on. We can't stay here there are mana beasts everywhere and they wouldn't have wanted that. It wasn't your fault. You could never have anticipated that. Noone could have. We have to stay here for us them and our new-born."

Nico Pov:

As we felt down Arthur started to create a cushion and I mirrored it with my own wind magic. I wasn't as proficient with it, but it was enough. We felt and felt and suddenly Arthur teleported us to the ground.

"Arthur that was a bit extreme don't you think so?"

"Yes, you are right, but we need to get away from them and being dragged away by a mana beast would definitely break them. In this way they can use the excuse that they could not stop a natural disaster." He retorted and I have to say that it makes sense. So, they had at least not the full guilt on their shoulders.

"So, what are we going to- "before I finished, I could hear a voice in my mind.

'Hello, what brings you to create an earthquake? And with aether no less. A used so preciously. I have to say I am impressed but also you have already awakened. So, who are you?'

'Hello Grandma Silvia' I heard Arthur's voice.

'So, you know who I am but how? I have never met you.' She retorted in someway intrigued by us but also frightened.

'Don't worry grandma I will explain everything but let us first go to your stay. We are not with those that hunt you we want to help you. But you already know that since you realize what we are.'

Hi everybody I have reread the first book or at least I have started with it and realized that the writing style differs enormous from mine. To stay as close as possible to the original content (for the entertainment) I have changed my writing style a bit. I am describing situations more and use less parts where someone is thinking. I hope you enjoyed and as always please tell me if I have maid errors or if I can improve in some ways.
