"I KNEW IT! i was all the way down clifton parade and i heard the engines. i thought, 'there's only one thing that makes a noise like that." mickey beamed as he ran up to the two women standing beside the t.a.r.d.i.s. rose turned her body to him, her face turned to the floor as she looked as though she was about to cry. "what is it?" he hugged her as she fell into his arms, hugging him back. he looked at callisto over rose's shoulder, "what's happened?"
"the doctor dropped us off." callisto answered. "and it's highly unlikely we can get back to him."
"how unlikely?" mickey asked.
"there's about a 99.99% we won't." callisto sighed as rose cried harder into mickey's shoulder.
"what's the 0.01%?" mickey questioned.
"hope with a splash of dumb luck." callisto shrugged, shifting her skin from its natural green as they began to walk, rose taking a deep breath to stop herself crying even more.
soon, they found jackie who was at the market and went to a chicken and chips shop. jackie started to ask questions about who callisto was, relaxing when she got the assured response from mickey and rose that she was a friend, not someone who would harm her daughter. however, they failed to mention the fact she was an alien seeing as though she no longer looked like one. callisto then gave a short explanation of their situation when rose didn't seem up for it.
"...and it's gone up market, this place!" jackie smiled as they sat in a booth, cartons of food in front of them. "they do little tubs of coleslaw, now. it's not very nice. tastes a bit, sort of, clinical."
mickey glanced at rose who was staring out of the window, messing with her hair in a mood and then to callisto, who was picking at her chips, hesitant to try the new food in front of her. she did and she liked it so she carried on eating. mickey looked to jackie, "have you tried that new pizza place on minto road?"
"what's it selling?" jackie questioned and mickey shot a small glance at callisto who had furrowed her eyebrows.
"pizza." he replied.
"that's nice. d'they deliver?" jackie inquired. she then looked at her daughter with worry, "oh, rose, have something to eat."
"200,000 years in the future. he's dying and there's nothing i can do." rose spoke up.
"well, like you said, 200,000 years, it's way off!" jackie tried to assure.
"but it's not! it's now! that fight is happening right now!" rose shot back. "and he's fighting for us! for the whole planet and i'm just sitting here eating chips!"
