NOW AT THE cooling tunnels, callisto crouched down and pulled off the lid to enter. mrs. moore stuck her legs inside the hole, beginning to climb down the ladder, shivering as she landed in the tunnel. the doctor and callisto followed after, barely able to see in the dark, seemingly abandoned, cooling tunnels.
"it's freezing." mrs. moore muttered as callisto landed beside her, the doctor jumping off of the last few steps in the ladder.
"any sign of a light switch?" the doctor joked, trying to look around the dark tunnel.
"can't see a thing." mrs. moore mumbled as she took off her gloves and pulled her bag around her hip to reach into it, pulling out some head torches, "but i've got these. a device for every occasion."
"ooh." the doctor murmured as she handed him and callisto one each.
"put them on." mrs. moore said as she reached into her bag to grab a third.
"haven't got a hot dog in there, have ya? i'm starving." the doctor mused as he put the head torch on, mrs. moore laughing at his little joke.
"as long as they're not from a jar. those ones are rank." callisto grimace, adjusting her own head torch, turning it on.
"of all the things to wish for, that's mechanically recovered meat." mrs. moore replied.
"i know, it's the cyberman of food, but it's tasty." the doctor continued.
callisto scoffed, "you absolute madman."
"says the woman that likes pears." the doctor smiled down at her as she shook her head, a small smile spreading across her lips.
"a proper torch, as well." mrs. moore said, handing the doctor one and then a second to callisto before shuffling through her bag for a third.
"let's see where we are." the doctor hummed, turning on his proper torch. the light flashed on towards a row of cybermen standing up against the wall and mrs. moore stared at them in horror. "already converted, just put on ice."
"c'mon." callisto mumbled casually as she and the doctor began to walk down the tunnel, mrs. moore still in the same spot for a moment until she followed.
the doctor knocked on the face of a cyberman and nothing happened. he flashed the torch at the next few while they began walking again as he spoke, "let's go slowly. keep an eye out for trip systems."
they contained to walk slowly down the cold tunnel, keeping their torches on the unmoving cybermen. none of them showed any signs of turning on. there seemed to be no trip systems or anything alerting them to switch on by themselves. they stayed propped up against the wall, standing and staring blankly ahead.
"how did you get into this, then? rattling along with the preachers?" the doctor asked mrs. moore.
"oh, i used to be ordinary. worked at cybus industries, 9-5. 'til one day i find something i'm not supposed to; a file on the mainframe. all i did was read it. then suddenly i've got men with guns knocking in the middle of the night. life on the run. then i found the preachers. they needed a techie, so i... i just sat down taught myself everything." mrs moore explained.
