THE T.A.R.D.I.S WHEEZED as it stopped in their next destination. rose stood straight from her crouched position, smoothing down her outfit. the doctor walked around the console with a small gadget in his hands, callisto sat on the seat with an old book in her palm. it was macbeth by shakespeare and she was hating every minute of it. however, the doctor said he enjoyed shakespeare so she was trying to give it a chance. she'd already read romeo and juliet, hamlet and the tempest but they were all as bad as each other.

"what d'you think of this? will it do?" rose asked, looking between them. she was wearing a pink top, dungarees that were a skirt rather than trousers with black tights.

"the late 1970s you'd be better off in a bin bag. hold on, listen to this." he flicked a button on the t.a.r.d.i.s console. "ian dury and the blockheads, number one in 1979."

"you're a punk." rose grinned as the doctor sang quietly along to the music, callisto's fingers tapping against the cover of her borrowed book. "that's what you are, a big ol' punk with a bit of... rockabilly thrown in."

"wanna go see him?" the doctor asked.

"how d'you mean? in concert?" rose questioned, shocked.

"what else is the t.a.r.d.i.s for? i can take you to the battle of trafalgar, first anti-gravity olympics, ceased crossing the rubicon. or ian dury at the top rank, sheffield, england, earth, 21st november 1979, what d'you think?" the doctor inquired.

"sheffield it is." rose smiled.

callisto stood up, placing the book on the seat as she did so, "i always thought the anti-gravity olympics would be a bad idea. i mean, how do you run? and imagine any sport that includes a ball or a puck."

"i bet there's hundreds of lost balls and pucks floating in space after that. you're right, bad idea." the doctor hummed in agreement before holding onto a lever, grinning at the pair. "hold on tight."

he yanked the lever down and the three held onto the console tightly as the ship jolted into action. soon, the doctor was slamming a hammer down on buttons roughly, music blasting in the background. he yelled happily, slamming the hammer a few more times repeatedly before the t.a.r.d.i.s stopped and the three fell on their backs onto the grating. rose and the doctor laughed loudly, callisto smiling slightly, shifting her skin from green.

the doctor stood up, "1979! hell of a year!" he pulled up callisto, smiling down at her before he yanked up rose, too. "china invaded vietnam. the muppet movie, love that film. margaret thatcher, urgh! skylab falls to earth, with a little help from me. nearly took off my thumb." he pulled on his trench coat and they left the ship. "i like my thumb. i need my thumb. i'm very attached to... my thumb."

the doctor had paused and held his hands up when he saw they were surrounded by officers in red coats, one of which was on a horse. they all held up guns to the trio, rose and callisto held their hands up too, glancing around, rose nervous.
