THE T.A.R.D.I.S ROCKED heavily as the doctor flew her through time and space. martha gripped onto the console, a grimace on her lips at the aggressiveness of the flight. callisto was sat on the rickety seat by the railing, keeping herself in place with an arm over the back of it. they were about to drop martha home after they'd been to visit zrotha, the world callisto promised to take martha to that was the habitat of creatures as close to dragons as she could think of.
martha had loved the entire experience and the smile had never left her face, barley even falling when one of the gargantuan creatures stomped up beside her and she was unsure whether they were going to kill her. luckily, they didn't, the creature far more calm than the fictional dragons of literature and television on earth. it didn't feel quite real when she got to brush her fingers across the thick scales of the creature. they decided to leave the planet when the doctor accidentally offended some of the other species that lived there and his words basically called for a witch hunt to find the trio.
pulling the final lever her needed to, the doctor landed the t.a.r.d.i.s in martha's home, "there we go! perfect landing! which isn't easy, in such a tight spot."
"you should be used to tight spots by now." martha hummed, brushing her hands off as she stood up straight from her clinging position on the console. callisto walked over to them. "where are we?"
"the end of the line." the doctor said with a small smile and martha grinned, thinking there was a new, brilliant planet outside or perhaps some time far away in the earth's future. martha paused at the door and looked back at the couple. "no place like it."
martha nodded questioningly, silently asking if she should go outside. the doctor nodded in encouragement and martha left the ship, smile falling when she found herself back home and not surrounded by aliens.
"home." martha said blankly, standing stuck in the same spot as the doctor and callisto left the t.a.r.d.i.s. "you took me home."
"back to the morning after we left." the doctor explained.
"you've been gone about 12 hours." callisto mused, glancing around. "orange curtains and blue walls?"
"what?" martha asked, defensively.
"nothing." callisto lied. "bold choice."
"thanks. but all the stuff we've done. shakespeare, new new york, old new york, dragons." martha listed.
"yep, all in one night. relatively speaking. everything should be just as it was. books, cds, laundry." the doctor said, glancing at the drying clothes beside him. martha's eyes widened greatly and she snatched some underwear off the rack uncomfortably. "so, back where you were. as promised."
"this is it?" martha asked, baffled.
the doctor breathed in deeply and callisto wasn't looking best pleased about leaving martha, "yeah. we should probably, um—"
