A/N
This one is set after Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I promise that if this one sucks, the rest will be better.

*Disclaimer* Cause people keep commenting about it, the first few oneshots are not (Y/N), they're characters I made up because I was new at writing. So if you read from "Happy Birthday (Y/N)" and onwards, they're reader insert.

There are many benefits to owning a barn. There are the basic uses of course, such as keeping livestock or family farm pets in. But they're also great hiding spots.

My family owned land out in the country somewhere. We moved and built a house here a couple years ago. It's a shame I couldn't spend my childhood out here. The weathet is dry now so most of the grass is dry but it just looks like long, yellow whispy strands that you could frolic through....wait. Frolic? That's fluffy. Anyway, there's beautiful trees scattered around the property, eleven in total maybe. Around this time, the long branches drape down towards the ground and cast shade.

I woke up Saturday morning, looking and behaving like a bear probably more than humanly possible. I did my morning routine, which included me stumbling into the bathroom, ever so graciously washing my face and teeth, and finally stumbling back out in a drunkenly fashion.

And one of the hardest tasks of the day, getting dressed and looking somewhat presentable. I slipped on some blue skinny jeans, a black tank top and a loose red plaid shirt. I laced up my black combat boots and tossed my hair up into a messy bun. Thank God my hair was already straightened from the night before. It was very difficult to manage such thick, long and easily tangled hair.

I walked out of my room into the bright kitchen and hissed.

"Good morning sunshine!" my mom said sarcastically.

I glared and mumbled a "Morning" and snatched a piece of bacon she had just made. I sat down at the table and let my sleep filled head clear for a minute. Amazing how the sleep still stayed with me even after I washed my face.

"Are you gonna go out and feed your friends?" my mom asked.

"Yes, yes I'll do it in a minute. I'm gonna stay out there longer than usual in fact." I replied.

"Really? Your actually gonna do more than feed them today?" she asked sarcastically.

"Yes," I replied in the same tone "I'm gonna groom Jasper and maybe take Gamble for a ride."

"Good." I heard her say as I started walking out the back door.

I headed toward the cute little red barn, which was near a huge tree that cast a breezy shadow on it. Once inside, I headed toward my brown horse and rubbed his head.

"Hey Gamble," I whispered as he nuzzeled into my cheek. He then whined in a slight urgent manner.

"Don't worry, I'm gonna feed you," I said as I chuckled at my impatient horse. But his eyes held mine for a second and I saw worry and uncertainty.

I suddenly felt uneasy. I turned toward the little storage room where I kept all the feed and supplies. That's when I felt a presence behind me. I walked toward the storage room and carefully yet as discreetly as possible, grabbed a metal bar that was leaning against the inside wall. I got a good hold on it and quickly spun around, swinging the bar with me.

I landed a solid hit on the man's side, causing him to grunt in pain and no doubt surprise, but not slowing him down. He attempted to grab the bar but I didn't stop. I ducked and veered toward his othet side, swinging the bar behind his knees. This caused him to kneel briefly, but he rolled to the side, missing my less intense hit that hopefully would have gotten him knocked out, making me stumble a bit. He landed on his back and I regained my balance, blindly swinging down towards him. I felt my swing get stopped abruptly. I looked down and noticed it for the first time.
