Don't kill me for the late update😩

Lycus's pov

I hate seeing her like this, Spyro muttered as I reached my thumb out to the spot between her brows soothing the crease that appeared only for her frown to deepen, Even in her sleep, she is troubled.

Can't blame her, I sigh escaped my lips. I took her hand in mine and tracing the lines on her palm, she has every right to be worried and there is nothing we can do to stop her or Hera from looking out for our pups.

They have us to worry for them, they shouldn't be stressed to the point of fatigue,. look at her, she fainted and if you weren't there to catch her, I don't even want to think of what would have happened, I almost laughed at his words as if he didn't know how resilient our mate had become over the years, how stronger she had emerged and also stubborn.

She was right, everything she had gone through not excluding the multiple miscarriages she had later on made her more strong-willed and I admired that.

I didn't want her blaming herself tho, with the miscarriages that happened, she tends to feel guilt even Amara's disappearance and Eros being nearly killed this morning heightened her self blame and I tried to make her know that it was never her fault.

The hapless happenings made her question her competence as a mother and no matter how hard she tried to hide it, I could see. Anytime something went wrong with the kids, she doubted herself.

If anything, I had part of the guilt too, knowing that my mother had a hand in this.

If she hadn't been the evil conniving bitch that she was, Amara would be here filling the castle with her laughter and blabber, Eros would be back to his bubbly teenage self sparring with me and my sweet Nyx wouldn't have a worry in the world with her smiles back to her again and her blushes as I teased her.

The disappearance of our daughter was an unforeseen cataclysm that had us all thrown into a frenzy.

I worried about her state, how she was faring and what the loathsome vampire was doing to her. Knowing his past from prison and how his nickname was the devil, it was certain that Amara has never been safe with him and I feared that if we didn't find her soon, it would be her remains we would find, for real this time.

My daughter being in the hands of a vampire with a murderous history and a dangerous reputation was something that kept me awake at night, kept Nyx awake and as I tried to comfort her, I couldn't help worrying and breaking into tears myself trying not to think about all the terrible things he could do to her.

She had enough trauma from her early years and being kidnapped by the enemy wasn't something I wanted her to go through.

I knew how power-thirsty Akanther was, how his hunger for control and authority led him to believe my mother's lies and he ended up getting himself killed and his kind almost wiped out.

It was said that there were no survivors but the paranoia of some of them being alive and knowing that the woman who birthed me had done injustice to a lot of creatures and even the bitter truth of Titan being her biological father made Amara our weakness and an easy target so we had kept her sheltered fearing for her life and even after all the protection we offered, he still got her and I wouldn't expect any child brought up by Akanther to be any different to him.

Power hungry and ready to trample upon anyone who got in their way even the readiness to sacrifice the blood of the innocent was there just like he had wanted to do with my mate.

His son couldn't be any different but he was a lot smarter and a better plotter.

Tricking us with magic into thinking that Amara was truly dead but we discovered early enough that it was all fake. Her puppy's disappearance and what she had named her were the next things we took into consideration. Interrogating her best friend and coaxing the truth out of her led us to find out about who Orian was, his dealings in the human world and he made it easy to help us find out things about him with his businesses and activities in the open only to discover that the inhabitation of the vampires and their leader was nowhere around our world or the human world.
