"So we're doing teams, now?" Stella locked her phone after retrieving it from her brother's sticky fingers.

Christian glanced over his shoulder. "Duah. It's more fun that way."

She rolled her eyes, resting her head back against the warm window. Nick sat beside her with a grin on his lips. "Which team will Stella be on? You know, since she's dating the competition."

Stella smacked his thin arm, making him flinch. "You guys would die without me. I'm doing you three a favor."

"Doing who a favor?" Danny whipped around in his seat.

Christian nodded in agreement. "Cuz it sure as hell ain't us."

Stella hit her brother in the forehead. "The southern hick is coming out of you."

"Settle down." Mark chuckled from his position in the driver's seat. He glanced into the rear view mirror with a small grin. "The goal is to beat the Fieri's, obviously. Just don't tell your mother I said that."

"Trust me dad." Christian laughed with him. "I won't."

"Mr. Mark." Nick sat on the edge of his seat, trying to project his voice. "How do you feel about your daughter dating a member of the opposing team? You've already had a mishap with a future daughter-in-law."

"A real journalistic asshole." Christian covered his face with his hands, hiding the red tomato cheeks.

Mark contorted his face into a look of surprise. He stifled a laugh before answering slow, watching his words carefully. "I... have no comment."

"Dad!" Stella whined. "You said you like Gio."

"I did." Mark shook his head. "Before he started dating my daughter."

"Ugh." Stella groaned, rolling her eyes in fake-annoyance. She could tell he was joking. "How'd you guys find out so fast anyway?"

"How do you think?" Christian chuckled, glancing out the window as they pulled up to a strip mall. "Devyn."

Stella let out a sigh. "I'm gonna kill her."

Mark pulled into a round-a-bout near the sidewalk. There were a few clothing shops and some food places, but they were going to the arcade in the corner. Danny hopped out first, leaving the door open for the rest of them. Nick and Stella climbed out last. The heat wrapped around her arms. It was a sunny day, with the palm trees blowing in the breeze.
