Chapter 23

There's a flash of light in the air, I sit up gasping for air and gripping my throat. I find someone on the floor "John?" I whisper helping him up "Reggie" John whispers, I nod and try to find the way out, following Sam and Dean "Wait, She's still in there" Sam yells just before John and I come out of the door, they look shocked again at the fact that I'm still alive or alive again I guess. We go out to the car and Sam throws the bag in the back seat, John and I are standing by his truck alone "It's time to tell them Regina" John says "I can't get out of this one" I say, he shakes his head "They're going to hate me" I say "I have an extra seat in the truck if you need it" John says and hugs me 

"But, they need you by their side more than I do. Take care of them? For me?" John whispers, I nod and let go of him "All right, come on. We don't have much time. As soon as the flare's out, they'll be back." Sam speaks up going towards John, I back away "Wait, wait, wait! Sam, wait. Dad, you can't come with us" Dean adds "What? What are you talkin' about?" Sam asks "You boys—you're beat to hell." John speaks up "We'll be alright" Dean says "Dean, we should stick together. We'll go after those demons—" Sam yells at Dean, I share a look with John "Sam! Listen to me! We almost got Dad killed in there. Don't you understand? They're not gonna stop. They're gonna try again. They're gonna use us to get to him. I mean, Meg was right. Dad's vulnerable when he's with us. He—he's stronger without us around." Dean tries to explain

I get in the back seat of the impala and let them talk

The boys join in and Dean drives off "We need an explanation" Dean says "I'll give it to you" I say "how are you alive right now?" Sam asks, tears are streaming down his face "Because I cannot die, Sammy" I reply "And what the hell is that supposed to mean?" Dean asks angrily "I'm a vampire" I admit, they don't reply "It's not funny" Sam says, I vamp out and hiss at them. Dean almost losses control of the car before parking by the side of the road. He turns around "For how long?" Sam asks "Since I killed Ash, almost three years ago" I say "And nobody knew?" I ask "Dad did" Dean says shocked "The vampire he trusts? That's you?" Dean asks, I nod "I knew it was only a matter of time before I had to tell you. But I couldn't, I'm not like them. my breed is different more sensitive, I get to walk in the sun. I'm easier to kill" I say with a shrug 

"Why didn't you just tell me?" Sam asks "Because I didn't want to die, I wasn't ready" I say "I could never kill you" Sam says he feels betrayed "How do you feed?" He asks "I promise I will explain everything you need to know alright, but we have to get out of Chicago because I can't die but you guys can" I say, Dean turns around and drives off "You should've told us" Dean says "I know" I reply 

The drive to the motel was quiet, the moment we walk into our room Sam pins me up against the wall by the collar of my jacket, I wince at the sudden contact with the wall "Sam you have every right to be mad right now" I say looking up at him "Mad? Mad doesn't even begin to explain it, Regina, you lied to me. We promised we wouldn't lie to each other, and here you are full of shit" Sam snaps, he pulls me back and hits me against the wall again "Sam" Dean speaks up "Stay out of this Dean" Sam says angrily "I did this to protect you alright, I am me. I am the same person I was before. If I wasn't John would've killed me" I say

Sam's expression softens up "Why did you feel like you had to lie to me? I thought you were better than that" Sam says, his grip loosens "I didn't want to hurt you, I didn't want to put you in a position where you had to choose between your instincts and me. So I went through it alone, I killed Ash because he turned me. He turned me to get back your father for killing off his nest" I say "Ash turned you?" Sam asks "yes, he thought that would make your father kill me and killing me would hurt me. He had this whole stupid plan and when I woke up I - I killed him" I say with a shrug "Can you let me go?" I ask, he does 

"You went through everything alone? We could have found a way to cure you" Sam says "It wasn't easy but I found a witch that gave me this" I say showing my necklace "It means I can walk in the sun and the bracelets you guys use" I say grabbing his wrist and pulling down his jacket "This makes sure that I can't compel you" I say "Compel us?" Sam asks "It means I can literally control you, drinking vervain keeps us from getting in your head to" I say "You can do that?" Dean says, I nod "Have you done that to us?" Sam asks "Once but it was an accident" I say walking around Sam 

I sit down on the couch and they sit on either side of me "You could've told us" Dean says "No Dean, I couldn't because you're both hunters. You kill first and think later, and when I turned. I couldn't control my hunger, not yet at least and I needed the time to learn it" I say "And now?" Sam asks "I steal blood bags from the hospital so I don't endanger anyone" I say "So when you were getting anxious and irritated-" Sam begins "I was getting hungry and being trapped in the car with you two, I can hear your heart beating and your blood flowing and it get unbearable" I admit "You scared the crap out of us" Sam says, I turn to him "I- I thought I had lost you too" He says trying to hold back tears 

"Hey" I whisper and hug him "I'm not going anywhere Sammy" I whisper, he cries quietly and I pull away to look into his eyes "I promise Sam" I say, I cup his face with my hands "You can't rid of me that easily" I say "Thank God" Sam whispers, I smile and turn to Dean "Are you okay with this?" I ask "Of course I am, now can you shower because you look disgusting" Dean says "Right it's not like I got killed by a fucking Daeva or anything" I say getting up and walking to the bathroom

"Reggie" Dean says, I turn to look at him "I'm glad your not dead" he says 

"Me too"
