Chapter 46

Castiel is on the floor signalling for me to climb down while Benny and Dean are fast asleep. I jump down and sit next to him "This portal cannot get us out" Castiel says "I know Cas, but I can't rip his hope into shreds this way" I say "If you go through it, there's a chance you may not survive it. God would not make a portal that vampires could get through. Except, you haven't been a vampire for a long time. That may be a loophole, your body is intact. The boys couldn't get themselves to cremate you" Castiel says, I sigh "Cas, don't give me hope. I hate this place" I say shaking my head "I hate being away from the boys, and Sam is all alone now" I say "I almost got to the point of turning my emotions off" I say "That wouldn't have been wise" Cas replies, I nod "I've been stuck here for three years" I say "I know, Sam and Dean have never recuperated from your death. Your name was a forbidden word for them and often spoken as a pain omen to them, usually during fights just after you had died. Sam left Dean for a while" he explains 

I look into the dark forest ahead "I want out" I say "Even if I die trying" I say "You told me you rescued me because I was meant to help them with the damn apocalypse" I say turning to look at Cas "That's what I had been told, I rebelled against heaven. But those were my last orders, I believed it to be true" he replies, I hear some movement from the tree. The dark sun has risen on the horizon, Benny jumps down "You heard me?" I ask "That portal could kill you" Benny says "And if it doesn't I'm finding a way to get you out of here, you made this hell hole a little more bearable" I say, there's a shuffling and a loud thud behind Benny. I move over slightly and Dean is on his back looking up at me "little help?" He groans, I offer a hand and laugh at him "You're a dumbass" I say "Clearly" Dean rolls his eyes 

"We better get a move on" Castiel says, we agree and set off hiking. Castiel leading the way

I can hear a few noises from behind me, I stop looking around and grab my demon knife from my boot. There's more shuffling and a few vampires appear from behind the tree "I smell human" He growls, I vamp out at him "One more step and your head will roll" I growl at him, he smiles looking back at Dean. I run to him and chop his head off before killing the rest of his friend in super speed, I step over their bodies and walk towards the guys. Dean is staring at me "You cut your hair" Dean says, I nod "I had to, long hair is a liability around here. Makes surviving a little harder" I say "you seem um, different" Dean says, I look at him "How so?" I ask "I don't know" he replies "You can't afford to give a fuck around here D, things get hard and monsters get dead," I say "And Benny?" Dean asks "Benny needed my help, an incident with those snooty Leviathans. I got him out and we have been on a run from them ever since" I say 

"I thought you had to stop caring" Dean says "I had to save him because the reason he was in danger was because I put him in danger, I thought we could trust a vampire. Benny knew we couldn't but we kept him around anyways, almost cost Benny his life. He saved me first, I owe him my life" I say "You don't owe me anything" Benny replies without looking back, I smile "We thought you had gone to heaven" Dean says, I chuckle "I don't belong in heaven Dean, if not here I would've had a one-way ticket to the universe down under" I reply "It kept Sam, rational. Thinking you were at peace" Dean says "But you knew better" I say, he nods "Yeah, I could only hope you were" he says, I smile "as happy as I am to see you Dean, I hate that I'm seeing you here" I say "I didn't expect to end up here either" he replies

He reaches over and grabs his hand in mine "I'm not leaving you in this place" Dean says "Even if I get out and I have to find another way, I'm getting you back to earth" Dean says. I can see the portal "There look" I say pointing, they all turn and we set off running towards the portal as fast as we can. There's shuffling behind us "Go" Benny yells, Dean is standing on the edge of the portal "No I'm not leaving you" I yell "You guys need to try" Castiel yells "We will hold them off" he continues, Dean hesitates but grabs my arm "No" I yell, Dean tugs on my arm and I turn to look at him "Come on" Dean yells at me "There's a chance I may not make it through Dean" I say, I can hear his heart beating "you have to try, I can't live without you anymore Reg. Please" Dean begs, I sigh and turn to Benny and Cas. Cas nods at me 

"I will be back for you" I say, Benny smiles at me and Cas has run towards the leviathans charging at us "I'll see you Regina" Benny replies before following Cas. Dean pulls me through the portal 

It's like life was breathed into me once again

I fall to my knees, I can feel the hot sun against my skin again. I look up at the blue sky, not understanding how I made it through. Dean gets on one knee next to me, he touches my face as if making sure I'm not just in his mind "You're really here" he whispers, I nod 

"We made it through"

"Now we find Sammy"
