Bai Feng Ju was relieved that they were enjoying the food. The Minster Of War liked their daughter so he decided to become her godfather. Even though the Minister Of War had a daughter the same age, he favored their daughter slightly because his daughter who was raised by his wife in the capital became a spoiled brat during his absence, and his wife and mother were not happy because of this, so they took it out on her.

They kept insulter her and calling her a social climber. Her daughter also suffered grievances from the daughter of the Ministry Of War, but they could only swallow their complaints since her husband just got promoted. As her daughter's birthday approached, she wanted to be away from such toxic people so as to not ruin her daughter's birthday but who would have thought that they followed her here? Even if she wanted to reject them she couldn't so she could only pray that they enjoyed the food so her daughter could still be able to lift her head high when they went back to the capital.

"Are you ready for dessert Miss Zhong?" Tang Shushui asked after seeing them finish eating.

"Yes, please!" She was very excited when she heard desserts were about to be served. Her mom had brought her some mango pudding when they still lived in town and it was the best thing she ever tasted. No dessert from the capital ever came close.

"Alright then," Tang Shushui bowed as he excused himself. A moment later he came out with another food cart.

Even though the Minister Of War's wife and mother and the other nobles thought the food was delicious they did not think that the dessert could beat those from the capital, after all the capital was known for having the best pastry chefs. But as soon as Tang Shushui uncovered the trays of desserts, their thoughts seemed silly. They saw desserts they'd never seen before. They were so well and the aroma was so sweet.

"All of these are new delicacies I have not introduced in my restaurant. I hope you enjoy them." Tang Shushui said politely.

The nobles hesitated but after seeing the Minister Of War pick a dessert up they all followed suit. One bite turned into two bites and they just couldn't stop. They have always taken pride in their pastries in the capital but these kinds of pastries were a whole other matter, but they still tried their best to keep calm so as to save face. While the adults were more mature and could hide their gluttony the children were far more innocent and only knew that these pastries were more delicious than the ones they ate at the capital, and some even pointed it out.

These comments were of course heard by Tang Shushui and his smile became thicker. He was invited to seat by Bai Feng Ju but he refused. He stood for a while to listen to the feedback of the nobles from the capital. There was no doubt that he wanted one if not multiple branches of business in the capital and other regions if not other countries.

It sounded ambitious but he started realizing that he was very ambitious. At first, he just started the restaurant as a way to quickly earn money for the family but as time went on, he really enjoyed making food or just doing business. Little by little he started regaining his lost passion for things he used to enjoy. And so he started becoming more and more ambitious as time went by. So for him today was a very great opportunity to recruit potential customers.

"Shushui we would like the cake now," Bai Feng Ju said. She thought that this many desserts would take quite a bit of time to eat but it only took about fifteen minutes for everyone to eat it.

"Of course," Tang Shuhsui politely responded before making his way into the kitchen.

A moment later, Tang Shushui and two other servers could be seen pushing a cart. On the cart was a yellow heart-shaped caked. The people around marveled at the well-decorated cake and kids looked at Zhong Yunru with envy.

Though people thought it was so amazing only Tang Shushui and the kitchen staff knew the true story behind the cake. Tang Shushui planned to make a two-tier bunny cake and was very confident about his skills but the ancient tools and kitchen humbled him really quickly. He failed miserably and could only switch to heart cake, which also gave him trouble. His life had been going on so smoothly that he seemed to have forgotten that this was ancient China and some things needed more than just his skills to be created. Today was really humbling experience for him.

"This is a vintage heart cake I baked for miss zhong. Would you like to blow out candles on your cake?" Tang Shushui asked politely. He planned to help out his fourth uncle's (Check out ch 7 if you forgot) family who made candles to sell in the village. He made them carve them into numbers so he could put them on top of the cakes he makes.

"Blow out candles?" Zhong Yunru asked the question everyone had in mind.

"Yes blow out the candles and make a wish," Tang Shushui persuaded.

"Does it really work?" Zhong Yunru asked.

"If you're sincere and hard-working, I think it will work." Tang Shushui responded.

"Mother, I want to do it," Zhong Yunru was excited, and Bai Feng Ju so no harm so she agreed.

Tang Shushui then took a candle that was carved into an eight and put it on the kick before lighting it up with a match. The people were surprised to see such a candle and the kids couldn't help but envy more, they wanted their birthday like this too. Tang Shushui then called most of his staff and they sang happy birthday to Zhong Yunru after placing a makeshift crown on his head. She was the center of attention and everyone was attentive to her, it gave the illusion that she was a princess. In her heart, she quietly said that this was her best birthday yet.

After singing happy birthday to her, Zhong Yunry blew out her candles. Bai Feng Ju asked Tang Shushui to cut the cake. After cutting the cake and giving Zhong Yunru her piece, Tang Shushui skillfully cut the cake and distributed it to the people.

This time the people didn't even dare look down on the cake. This was the first time they saw a pastry so exquisitely decorated. Since the cake came it was the center of attention and everybody couldn't help but marvel at it. Even if the cake wasn't theirs they felt reluctant to cut something that looked like such a masterpiece, but not eating it would be disrespectful.

After one bite they immediately forgot their reluctance. The soft and cream cake had a buttery yet sweet taste. It was their first time tasting something like this. It didn't take long for the guest to finish eating the cake.

Since the cake was eaten already, the party was considered done, and by the faces of his guests, he knew it was a success.
