The next morning, the sun's gentle rays peeked through the curtains, signaling the start of a new day. I stretched my limbs and let out a satisfied sigh, feeling refreshed after a good night's sleep.

As I made my way to the kitchen to prepare breakfast, I noticed Jungwon already there, clad in his school uniform, pouring himself a cup of coffee.

"Morning, Yoonie," he greeted with a smirk. "You're finally awake."

I playfully rolled my eyes, grabbing a box of cereal from the cupboard. "Not all of us are early birds like you, Jungwon. Some of us need a little extra beauty sleep."

He chuckled, taking a sip of his coffee. "Well, you should probably invest in an alarm clock then. It's a school day, you know."

I glanced at the clock on the wall and realized he was right. Time had slipped away from me faster than expected. "Oops, I guess I got carried away with my beauty rest. Thanks for the reminder."

We finished our breakfast in a comfortable silence, the occasional clinking of spoons against bowls filling the air. Once we were done, we both stood up simultaneously, exchanging glances that conveyed the unspoken agreement to walk to school together.

As we stepped out of the apartment building, the crisp morning air greeted us, invigorating our senses. The walk to school was a pleasant one, with the sun shining brightly overhead and a gentle breeze rustling the leaves on the trees.

Just as we turned the corner, we spotted Hanni and Sunoo, our classmates, walking ahead of us. Hanni's signature bright smile lit up her face as she waved at us, while Sunoo nodded in acknowledgment.

"Hey, guys!" Hanni called out, her voice filled with excitement. "Are you ready for another thrilling day of school?"

Jungwon and I exchanged glances, sharing a knowing smirk. "Absolutely," I replied, my tone dripping with sarcasm. "I can hardly contain my excitement."

Sunoo chuckled, falling into step with us. "Come on, don't be so pessimistic. We might learn something interesting today."

Jungwon raised an eyebrow, a teasing glint in his eyes. "Interesting? In school? Now that's a novel concept."

Hanni laughed, playfully nudging him. "Oh, come on, Jungwon. You never know what surprises await us. Life is full of unexpected moments, even in the classroom."

We continued our walk, trading banter and laughter along the way. It was in these moments, surrounded by friends and the anticipation of a new day, that I realized how fortunate I was to have these connections.

As we approached the school gates, the familiar buzz of students filled the air. With a final round of jokes and laughter, we bid farewell to Hanni and Sunoo, heading to our respective classrooms.

"See you later, guys!" Hanni called out, waving enthusiastically.

Jungwon and I exchanged smiles, our newfound feeling evident in our shared glances. "See you," we replied in unison, the words carrying a sense of warmth and friendship.

As we made our way to our classroom, I couldn't help but feel a surge of optimism for the day ahead. Perhaps, with laughter and the support of newfound friends, school wouldn't be so bad after all.

In the classroom, the morning sunlight filtered through the windows, casting a soft glow on the desks and filling the room with a sense of anticipation. I settled into my seat, arranging my books and stationery, ready to dive into the day's lessons.

Jungwon took the seat beside me, his usual playful smirk gracing his lips. "Good morning, Yoonie," he greeted, his tone teasing.

I turned to him, a curious expression on my face. "Why have you been calling me Yoonie since yesterday and this morning?"

He leaned back in his chair, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Why not? It's cute," he replied casually.

I raised an eyebrow, a faint blush creeping onto my cheeks. "Don't call me that."

Jungwon's smirk widened, and before I could react, he playfully called out, "Why not, Yoonie?" He slightly leaned on his desk.

My hand instinctively shot out and gave his shoulder a light slap. "I said don't call me that," I spoke, holding my fist up, pretending I was going to punch him to seem intimidating.

He laughed, rubbing his shoulder where I had lightly hit him. "Not going to listen to you Yoonie."

A mischievous grin spread across my face as an idea sparked in my mind. "Then if you're calling me Yoonie, it's only fair that I have a nickname for you."

Jungwon scoffed, feigning indifference. "Oh, really? And what brilliant nickname have you come up with?" He spoke, resting his chin on his palm as he waited for my reply.

I paused for a moment, pretending to think before a mischievous glimmer danced in my eyes. "Wonnie," I declared, a playful grin spreading across my face.

He let out a scoff, trying to hide a hint of a blush creeping onto his cheeks. "Wonnie? That's not even creative."

I shrugged, a playful glint in my eyes. "Well, it's your fault for calling me Yoonie. Consider it payback."

As we turned our attention to the teacher who had just walked into the classroom, I couldn't help but steal a glance at Jungwon. His lips curved into a small smile, and his cheeks held a soft pink tinge that he tried to conceal.

Throughout the day, whenever I referred to Jungwon as "Wonnie," he tried to act nonchalant, but I could catch glimpses of his hidden delight. It became our little inside joke, a playful exchange that made us smile amidst the academic rigors.
