Emma looked up from the book that she was reading, one of many that Sam had sent her that had any mention of a Phoenix, and saw that Stefan was putting on his jacket and getting ready to leave.

"Where are you headed so bright and early?" She asked him.

"Uh," Stefan looked almost nervous to tell her, "Caroline and Enzo are stalled in their search for my doppelgänger, so I-"

"Am heading back to Sloan to let her fry your brain some more?" Emma closed her book and stood up, "I don't think so. We got lucky once, you shouldn't take that chance a second time."

Stefan looked down, ashamed of himself, "I let Caroline leave with that dick to go murder someone. Someone whose only crime is being my exact double. Caroline is going to have to live with that guilt. The least I can do is help."

Emma let out a sigh, seeing that she couldn't convince him otherwise, "Be careful."

"I will," Stefan promised, "don't tell Damon."

Emma scoffed, "No promises there. Just come back with your head intact and you won't have to worry about it."

Stefan smirked at her before he walked out the door.

Emma went to sit back down in the chair by the fire. She had just gotten back to the paragraph she had been trying to translate when she heard someone open the front door. She was surprised when she looked up and saw that it was Elena. Damon came bounding down the stairs with his leather jacket in his hand.

"You ready?" He asked Elena.

Emma shook her head in disbelief, "Where are you two going?"

Damon looked over at Emma and smiled, "Parent-Teacher conference. Since I'm the only registered contact on Jeremy's file, Elena can't go without me."

"Okay then," Emma couldn't hold back the slight look of concern that came across her face.

Damon stepped over to her and leaned down, giving her a soft kiss, "Meet me at the Grill later?"

"Uh, yeah, sure," Emma smiled at him.

Damon gave her one more quick kiss before he left with Elena.

It was the first time that Emma had ever been left alone in the large house. She tried to turn back to her reading, only managing to translate a few more sentences before she became too uncomfortable.

"Yeah, no, I need noise," Emma closed her book and stood up.

She quickly walked to the entryway and grabbed her jacket, keys, and helmet before she walked out of the house.

Inside the Grill, Emma spotted Matt at the bar, serving customers while simultaneously talking to Tyler. She stepped up to the bar and leaned against it.

"'Sup?" She smiled at both of them.

Matt smiled back at her but quickly looked away.

Tyler turned to face her, "Shouldn't you be attached to Damon's side?"

"Anyway," Emma ignored him, "for the first time in...ever, I'm bored. So, one Jack and Coke please."

Emma slid a twenty to Matt, he pushed it back to her without saying anything and started making her drink. As he handed it to her she smiled at him again, but he just looked away.

"Nope," Emma took a quick drink and set her glass back down, "we are not doing this awkward thing dude. I kissed you, that's all. Let's get past it."

"Wait, what?" Tyler looked between them, shocked, "And Damon hasn't killed you yet?"
