Damon watched, unseen, as Emma sat on her sister's grave silently crying. She had pulled herself up as tightly as she could and hid her face away from the world. A world she no longer wanted to be a part of.

He reached out and stroked her bare arm, making her look up as the warm and love from his energy overcame her.

"You promised," Emma whispered.

"I'm so sorry," Damon knew that she couldn't hear him, but he felt as if the words needed to be said regardless.

"You said you would always come back to me," Emma held back the urge to scream.

"I love you so much, Emma," Damon held her face in his hand, it almost seemed like she could feel him, "loving you has been the best thing to ever happen to me. It made me a better man, a better person. It made me feel human. One hundred and seventy-three years, and I get to die knowing that I had you, all of you. That you were mine."

Emma let out a quiet sob, "Please, don't leave me. I need you."

"I love you, Em."

Emma could feel as Damon's presence left her side. She could feel as her heart hardened. As her emotions faded away into nothingness.
