I hummed to myself as I cleaned a small part of the kitchen counter so I could start on the next thing. Today was Thanksgiving and Ronnie and I were hosting our families this year. He had just finished cleaning the bathroom when I began to peel the potatoes for the mashed potatoes. He poked his head into the kitchen and then meandered over to where I stood. "Hey, you wanna help?" I asked as I thwarted his attempt to kiss me. He laughed as he picked up a peeler and mimicked my hunched over the trashcan posture. I playfully shoved him as I finished the potato in my hand and reached for another one.

When those were done, I left them to soak in a pot before I began cutting up vegetables to go in other dishes. Then I cleaned up more of the kitchen because I never liked things to be too disorganized. I turned to Ronnie when I had finished and said, "Alright, you can get started on making your pie now.""Thanks," He said as he passed me, pressing a kiss to my cheek before continuing towards the pantry. I leaned back against the counter as I watched him work and I couldn't help but smile. As he moved to put the completed pie in the oven, I tried to get up on the counter to sit. However, I couldn't get enough momentum and I ended up just jumping in place with my hands pressed on the counter behind me.

Ronnie turned and saw what I was doing and he laughed at my failed endeavors. He grabbed me by my waist and easily lifted me onto the counter. I moved my legs so he could stand between them as his hands moved to rest on my hips. My hands rested on his arms and I could feel the muscle beneath his shirt. "Thank you," I said. He laughed as he replied, "It's always a pleasure to help my short little girlfriend." I gave him a mock hurt face and he shook his head at me before pressing a long kiss on my lips. I reached a hand up to tangle it in his dark hair as he pulled away slightly from the kiss. His dark eyes stared into my e/c ones with longing for a moment before he kissed me again.

"Are you sure people have to come over?" He whined as he moved his hands from my hips to the tops of my thighs, his big hands running up and down over them. "I just want to show you how thankful I really am for you in my own way." I laughed at his comment as I replied, "No, we invited them over and we can't uninvite them. Besides, I just made all of this food." Ronnie sighed and hung his head in defeat. I giggled at his childish nature and used my free hand to pick his head back up, my other hand still running through his hair. "I promise that once everyone has gone you can show me how thankful you are." A certain spark appeared in his eyes at my words that sent a shiver down my spine. "I'll be counting down the minutes." He promised.

As he leaned in for another kiss, the doorbell rang, reverberating through the house. Ronnie groaned and I couldn't help but laugh at the timing. "It's show time," I said as I hopped off the counter and hurried towards the front door. As I opened it and welcomed our guests inside, I turned and saw Ronnie's face had quickly changed to politeness as he greeted everyone. But when he turned and met my gaze, he gave me a small smirk that made my heart beat rapidly and I returned the smirk.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Make sure to spend this time with your family, in whatever shape that may take, and eat a shit-ton of food.
