"Our love was written in the stars, our love destine to live on forever," she whispered softly into my ear. The same stars we watch while my fingers run down her body. Goosebumps following suit.

But she disappeared like a shooting star. There one secone and with a blink of a light, she was gone. And as I lay here alone in the bed we once shared, I knew we were never meant to be. We were never written in the stars. We were drawn in the sand, washed away by the rising tide.

Maybe she was a lesson I was meant to learn. Wishing upon a wishing star is for children's fairy tales. I wish I could hold her one last time. Feel her kiss against my lips, her fingers through my hair. The only time I ever felt infinite was when her arms wrapped around me so tightly that every broken piece mended together. I wish I could tell her I loved her one last time. But as I see her change and move on, I know she was never meant to be mine.

My love for her will be forever. "Until the day I die," I promised. And as I felt my vision go black and my blood run down my arms, I knew that it wouldn't be another broken promise.
