Inside Perspective

Here's the thing about dying
Or more living
You have to want to come back
Fight until the end
Or simply give up
Let the serenity of darkness take over
Or pull apart your stitched lids and face the hospital lights
Endure the aches and pains from tubes and needles
Or let the pain consume you
The funny thing about death
Most of the time
it's unavoidable
Your body has outlived its use
Ready to go back home
But
There's also the other end of the spectrum
A broken mind takes over a broken body to bring down a broken soul
Falling into a harsh reality
Begging for any kind of release from the torture you endure every single day
Behind closed doors
Away from prying eyes
Hidden away from all love and life and happiness
Because you don't deserve it,
Right?

It all ends there
For some
The ones who need to be held by strong arms
And forget the world
Taking the grim reapers sure and steady hand
For others
Hope sparks within them
Building a fire around their soul
Forcing it to light their way through the thick fog
Tripping over every word every thought every person every memory everything
Pushing to fight
To see those too bright lights
To feel those aching bones and pounding head
To hear your parents and partner cry that they love you
To have that first drink of that cold, crisp hospital ice water
The one with the ice
You know the type I'm talking about
But
Dying really is a weird thing
I think it really puts things into perspective
You have to fight
Till the very end
