I was the most lonely when I was with you
Standing in your shadow
A life that's not mine
Watching from the doorway
As you chose anyone but me
Disappearing and reappearing
An exhausting magic trick
You kissed my lips
Yours still drenched in the taste of them
I begged on hands and knees
As your heart drifted away before my eyes
Your attention suddenly theirs when it was supposed to be mine
You made promises to me
Only to leave me alone
But, even still
I want to be lonely again
