Hold on tight

"As of right now, I'm not exactly knee-deep in the Jujutsu world."

"Let's try not to see each other again, kid."

"...don't call me Zenin. It's Fushiguro Toji now."

Those words constantly echoed in (Y/N)'s head throughout the train ride to Tokyo. The rhythmic clatter of the train on the tracks doing little to soothe the turmoil within him.

(Y/N) sat near the window, his hand grabbing his face as he leaned back, the weight of recent revelations pressing heavily on his shoulders.

The call from Masamichi Yaga detailed three devastating happenings at the Tokyo campus, each one more shocking than the last.

The Star Plasma Vessel Gojo and Geto were supposed to escort to Master Tengen, had been assassinated.

Geto was in critical condition.

And the most impossible words (Y/N) and Shoko had ever heard:

Gojo Satoru was missing.

And what appeared to be his blood in an insane amount was also found.

All of this chaos was caused by only one person.

A person with not even an ounce of cursed energy. A person who had killed countless sorcerers. A person (Y/N) had met and let go.

Zenin Toji...

(Y/N) could only blame everything on himself. The guilt gnawing at him every mile the train passed. The serene scenery passing by outside the window seemed like a cruel juxtaposition to the storm raging inside him.

Shoko sat beside him, her hands clasped tightly in her lap, knuckles white from the pressure.

"(Y/N)... Do you know anything about this Toji guy?" Shoko's voice broke through the clatter of the train, her concern mirrored in her eyes as she looked at him.

"I..."

(Y/N)'s words got caught in his throat, fear gripping him at the thought of confessing his encounter with Toji. It was his failure, his mistake that had inevitably led to this catastrophe. People would hate him for this, and the thought of Shoko's disappointment was unbearable.

"I only heard some stories about him. How he will even kill sorcerers if paid the right amount. I suppose someone hired that criminal for this assassination as well..."

(Y/N) lied. He hated lying, but his mouth wanted to hide the truth.

As the train finally arrived in Tokyo, the two bolted out of the station. They needed to get to the Tokyo campus as fast as they could, but the distance was considerable.

"Shoko, I have an idea, follow me."

(Y/N) grabbed Shoko's arm and led her to an empty alleyway, his mind racing for a solution.

Checking that no one was nearby, (Y/N) looked around to find the direction of the Tokyo campus.

"(Y/N), what is it?" Shoko asked, her urgency palpable.

"I've never tried this before, but in theory... It will work." (Y/N) reached his palm out, and from the ground, his cursed energy started spreading in a straight line towards the Tokyo campus.

Shoko realized what he was trying to do and waited patiently, knowing his method could get them there in an instant.

In about a minute, (Y/N) lowered his hand and grabbed Shoko's.

"Hold on tight, alright? And it's kinda scary, so you'd probably want to close your eyes."

"U-Uh yeah. Okay." Shoko responded nervously, her trust in (Y/N) overriding her fear.

Shoko then felt her entire body sinking into the ground as (Y/N) activated his technique. The sensation was disorienting, like being pulled down to a narrow hole at high speed.

What she saw next was the pure abyss. Darker than anything she had ever seen, darker than when she closed her eyes. The only sensation she felt was (Y/N)'s hand, gripping tightly onto hers.

But before she could process more, she sensed they were ascending up.

Sunlight hit their faces as they emerged from the ground, now standing at the entrance of Tokyo Jujutsu High.

And what they witnessed made them question if they had arrived at the right place.

The buildings that were once there lay in ruins, reduced to rubble. Assistant supervisors hurried around the area, their expressions grim and urgent. Other sorcerers were present, deep in discussion, their faces etched with disbelief.

Finally, in the center of the scene stood Masamichi Yaga, staring at a pool of blood at the center of the destroyed ground.

It was clear that a massive battle had taken place here.
