In the aftermath of the Star Plasma Vessel Incident.

At the Star Religious Group Church.

As Gojo disappeared into the rubble, (Y/N) was left standing alone amidst the ruins, his gaze settling on Toji's body—still upright, yet eerily motionless.

(Y/N) took a slow, deliberate step toward Toji's fallen form. Each step brought him closer to the man who had dared to defy the odds against the Strongest Sorcerer of their time.

As he reached him, (Y/N) stopped, eyes locked on Toji's corpse. His entire left side was gone, yet he was still standing...

(Y/N) stared, unable to shake the question that continued to echo in his mind.

Why didn't he run? He had every chance, every reason to save himself.

But Toji had stayed.

Maybe...

Maybe he wanted to prove himself.

(Y/N) thought alone in his head and couldn't help but feel a strange sense of admiration for the enemy he once wanted to kill the most out of anyone.

To prove himself to others against impossible odds...

It was a drive (Y/N) understood well. It was a feeling he shared—the unrelenting need to carve his place, to reach a strength that no one could deny.

(Y/N)'s eyes then drifted to the Inverted Spear of Heaven placed on the ground next to the body.

The weapon that had momentarily made Toji the equal of the most powerful sorcerers...

He reached out, fingers brushing against the hilt, and tightened his grip around it. With a firm tug, he lifted the weapon from the ground, examining it closely.

The weapon was still warm from the battle, an object of destruction in his grasp...

Without hesitation, (Y/N) placed his hand on the chain attached to the dagger, gripping it tight, and broke it off with a determined pull.

He studied the weapon for a moment, feeling its purpose.

As he looked back at Toji's lifeless form for one last time, (Y/N) murmured under his breath.

"I really wanted to kill you, Fushiguro Toji... But seeing you dead here right now, I feel no satisfaction.... Maybe it's because, as much as I hate to admit it... I might've ended up just the same if I'd chosen a path even slightly like yours, driven by nothing more than the simplest, most basic desires of a human."

(Y/N) looked down, his grip tightening on the weapon.

"But I suppose none of that matters now. Because, here I am, taking this weapon with those very same desires in mind..."

In one smooth motion, (Y/N) opened a cursed energy portal, concealing the spear inside its hidden depths.

"...However... I won't end up like you..."

(Y/N) leapt through the shattered window into the top floor of the skyscraper.

The room exuded a refined opulence, the kind reserved for the highest echelon, where furniture gleamed with polish and the air held the scent of polished wood and leather.

Or, it would have, had it not been reduced to a mess of broken glass, shattered wood, and bent steel, with Gojo lying amidst the debris on a fractured mahogany desk.
