August 29 Tuesday Year 1
"I had to drop our class."
I would be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed to hear Taehyung and I wouldn't be having a class together this semester. But, I understand. Taehyung is trying to graduate as soon as possible, and that means that he needs to fill his time with classes that pertain to his major rather than electives that he could test out of.
I'm now realizing that all the times that Taehyung couldn't hang out with everyone wasn't because of a secret he was keeping or hiding. He was simply studying hard and working for recognition at his job.
I puff my cheeks out while blowing out some air.
I should be more like Taehyung... Why don't I study for more exams for credit? Look for an internship at some medical clinic? That would make sense before graduating and realizing I hate the health informations field.
But that would mean sacrificing all my free time for my studies again. That feeling is so isolating and I'm desperate to not feel that way again. Besides, if I don't make friends or meet more people now, it'll be a lot harder later.
Stepping out of the building, I notice that it's drizzling.
The weather is going to drop after today. I shudder, holding out my hand to see how fast it was coming down.
It's not too bad to walk in...
An umbrella goes over my head, and my gaze darts around.
"Help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it."
"Hm?"
It takes me a moment, but then I recognize him. The face piercings are gone, replaced by a pair of glasses. Instead of his usual black leather jacket, he's wearing a navy and yellow striped shirt, accented with cute little flowers pinned to it.
Jeon!
He laughs. "Have you never watched Harry Potter?"
"A-a long time ago... with my mom."
He kind of resembles him with the glasses right now.
He poses. "Don't I look like him right now?"
I gasp.
It's like he read my mind.
"Or maybe I'm more like James Potter?" He raises a brow before sheepishly shaking his head. "I'm embarrassing myself. Anyway, why are you standing in the rain looking so sad?"
"Sorry." I blush, the strength in my voice dropping, "I think I just look like that at this point."
His laughter spills out, and I'm flustered because of how much he's laughing.
"I'll change that. Now that I'm officially attending here, we can-"
"Seolli!"
I switch my attention to Jiyoo who stands at the entrance. She has her windbreaker's hood pulled over her head and she's holding onto her tote bag, watching Jungkook carefully.
"Aaaand I'm nervous, gotta go." Jungkook rushes his words out as he takes a step down the stairs.
"O-oh, the roads are wet...."
"I didn't bring my motorcycle. It's in the shop, thanks to my brother."
I must've looked worried still, because he chuckles and bites his tongue. "Next time. I'll tell you about it next time."
He stretches his hand out and continues walking down the stairs. "Bye, Lili."
"B-bye..." It hits me that I still don't know his name.
Next time.
When I walk back to Jiyoo, she pulls out a small hand towel and holds it out for me.
My heart flutters by her kindness as I take it. "Thank you, Jiyoo!"
"Are you okay? I thought he was making a move on you and I didn't know if you'd want that..."
"M-me?" This time, my whole body feels on fire. I desperately hope he wasn't listening because I would feel bad if he thought I even believed it was 5% true. I don't think that highly of myself. Especially when it's obvious that Jeon's very attractive by society's standards.
Jiyoo nods slowly. "Sorry, I overstepped. I hope I didn't ruin anything."
I shake my head awkwardly, using the towel to warm my hands up.
She smiles and takes my hand. "You know, I'm really happy for you."
I tilt my head.
She lets out a sigh of relief. "For a second, I thought that maybe you really did like Taehyung."
The air stills around me.
"But now I know you were really telling the truth."
