Chapter 15; Secrets

"Joey.. I still can't believe it's really you.."
Zoey said as she stood next to her long lost brother.
"Yeah, it's me." Joey says, his eyes turning red a little, getting annoyed at being asked the same question over and over.
"Sorry.." Zoey says, hearing the anger in his voice.
"No.. It's my bad.. I'm just used to it.." Joey said, feeling bad for snapping back.
He felt.. Bad?
What's wrong with me??
Joey thought.
"He's still here? Why didn't you kill him yet?" Carly asked as she came in.
"Relax Carly, he's my brother." Jordan says to Carly.
"Well your brother better shape up fast, Or I'll do it myself." Mitch says as he walks in too, followed by Casey. Zoey can't help but look over at Casey, who catches her gaze and smiles a little.
Zoey smiles back, then says;
"I'm going to go catch up with the others." And leaves.
"Joey, I know that there is some good in you, no matter how much you deny it, I know that my brother is somewhere in there." Jordan says, looking at Joey in the eye.
"Say what you want. I know what I am." Was all Joey had to say.

"Hey wait up!" Zoey said as she ran over to Mackenzie and Ella.
"Where's Mel? I need to tell you guys something... It's important." Zoey said.
"Melodys visiting her boyfriend who's back in the infirmary." Ella said raising an eyebrow and grinning a half smile.
"Wait, Melody and Felix, are like.. A thing now??" Zoey asks, full of shock.
"No, they aren't." Kenzie says, pushing Ella.
"Melody just likes him.. A lot." Mackenzie said.
"I still don't know what she sees in him." Zoey said, shaking her head.
"Well.. I'll tell you guys when Melody comes back, I want her to hear this too, but remember don't tell anyone not Felix, not Jace, Jordan, Mitch, Carly, Casey... especially not Casey." Zoey said that last part with a worry, wondering if he will find out.
"You don't need to tell us twice, we won't." Ella said.
"Yeah, anything you tell us is safe, we are your friends." Kenzie said with a smile.
"Thanks guys, if one of you walk by the infirmary, tell Melody to hurry? I really want to tell you guys." Zoey says one more time before heading off to the parkour.

"Melody it's fine, you don't have to stay here." Felix says, as Melody starts nodding off to sleep.
"And anyways, you just woke up a few hours ago, how are you already sleeping?" Felix says laughing, but then cringing at the pain in his head.
"Are you okay?" Melody asks, looking at his head, which has a dark bruise on it.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Felix says, shaking her arm.
"I'm sure there are much more interesting things for you to be doing right now, than watching me do nothing." Felix says, smiling at her. Melody blushes.
"Melody, can I ask you something?" Felix asks.
"Y- yeah, sure." Melody stutters.
"Why do you always blush when I smile at you? Or look at you in general?" Felix asks with a laugh, his suspicion taking over.
"Well.. I... Um.." Melody starts.
"Hey Mel! Zoey wants to tell us something but is waiting for you, so she wanted us to tell you to hurry up!" Ella yells through the door.
"Gotta go!" Melody says, happy to be leaving, and not having to answer Felix's question.
How can she possibly tell him that she likes him?

"Okay, so now that you're all here, remember-"
"Don't tell anyone else what you are about to say." Ella, Kenzie, and Melody all say at the same time, hearing her say it at least a million times.
"Okay.. I think I like Casey." Zoey said, looking at their reactions.
"Oh my god! You do? This is so exciting!" Melody says, knowing how it feels to like someone.
"But isn't he like.. You know... older than you?" Ella asked.
"Oh come on, it's cute! A lot of people date with age gaps." Mackenzie said, feeling excited for Zoey.
"True, is Felix older than you?" Ella asks Melody.
"No I'm pretty sure he's the same age." Melody says.
"You guys would be a cute couple." Ella says, making Melody blush.
"So, when are you going to tell him?" Kenzie asked.
"Tell him what?" Zoey asked.
"That you like him of course!" Melody said.
"What!? Are you crazy? I can't tell him!" Zoey says, thinking they're all nuts.
"Well how do you expect him to even think about you in that way?" Ella asked Zoey, shocked.
"I don't know.. Just hope I guess." Zoey says.

"Are we at least going to get some inside information out of him?" Mitch asks Jordan as he circles around Joey.
"Could you stop doing that?" Joey asks, getting annoyed at Mitch's pacing.
"Umm.. No?" Mitch says, continuing.
"How do you know we can even trust him?" Casey asks, looking at Jordan.
"I told you guys, he's my brother, I know I can." Jordan says looking at Joey.
"I still say we need to question him." Carly says.
"Okay.." Jordan thinks of a question.
"Okay I got one, what's with the eyes?" Mitch asks, noticing how Joey's eyes change from red to slightly more brown.
"What do you mean?" Joey asks.
"He means why do they change color?" Jordan asks, noticing it too.
"Well, when you officially join The Other Side it just comes, it's like your body knows that all the good has left you, when you are at your full evil, your eyes turn full red, after that, there is no going back to being any good ever again, but once they turn fully back to their original color, you are fully good, you can become evil again, but it would be very hard. Right now, mine for example, are in the middle, they go back and forth. That answer your question?" Joey asks looking at their baffled expressions. He laughs, and his eyes go more into brown, more than they ever have before.
"Okay, what about the leader? Of The Other Side, what's his name?" Carly asks him.
His eyes go redder.
"We are forbidden to speak of anything regarding personal information on The Other Side when under capture. We would all prefer to face death than to spill our secrets." Joey says with almost no emotion.
"Then face death." Mitch says, holding up a syringe full of purple fluid.
"W- what's that?" Joey stutters.
"A vial of pure polonium. One ounce can kill the average, healthy, full- grown male, in less than twenty minutes." Mitch says with a twisted grin.
"I never agreed to this!" Jordan said, getting angry.
"Come on Joey, let's make a deal, secrets, or your life." Carly says walking up next to Mitch.
"Fine! The name of the leader is Sir Malum, I'm his second- in- command, or so I used to be, I doubt I am now, he recently got a new recruit, and he's really taking him under his wing, his name was.. Jake? Jacob? Something like that, I don't remember."Joey says.
"I thought you guys would rather give your life?" Casey asked suspiciously.
"Well, you guys are lucky I hate needles." Joey said, eyeing the syringe.
"Jacob.." Jordan says, his voice trailing off.
"What? You know the guy?" Joey asks.
"Yeah, he used to go to be one of us, but he ran away and we never found him, now we know where he went." Jordan says, looking grim.

"Okay, Jordan sent me here to tell you guys that it's time to go to bed." Casey says walking, into the dorms.
"Wait.. 1,2,3... Who are we missing?" Casey says, only seeing Ella, Kenzie, and Jace.
"Melody is visiting Felix in the infirmary again, and Zoey is.. somewhere." Jace answers Casey.
"Hey guys, have you seen my- AAH!" Zoey walks in and trips over Casey's shoe. He caught her just in time.
"Whoa! Sorry about that!" Casey helped Zoey back onto her feet, keeping an arm around her shoulders until he was done steadying her.
"I- I- um, thanks." Zoey stuttered, fighting blush from covering her face.
"No problem." Casey said smiling and gently pushing her toward Ella and Kenzie, who were grinning like lunatics.
*stop!*
Zoey mouthed at them.
"Now Melanie.. Where is she?" Casey asked.
"It's Melody, and she's in the infirmary with Felix." Kenzie said, correcting him.
"Wait.. Are Melody and Felix like.. Dating?" Casey asked, smiling.
"No, they aren't, but Melody likes him." Ella said. She felt a little bad, wondering if Melody wanted him knowing or not.
"Okay, I'll go find her." Casey said before heading out.

"You seriously should get back to the dorms." Felix tells Melody after looking at the time.
"I'll be fine." Melody says smiling.
"Okay.." Felix says, still unsure.
"Anyways, you never answered my question." Felix starts.
"What question?" Melody asks, obviously knowing what one, but is trying to stall.
"Why do you always blush when I smile at you?" Felix asks Melody the dreaded question.
As if on cue, once again, Casey walks in right at that moment.
"Hey Melody, it's after curfew, time to head back into the dorms." Casey says looking from Melody to Felix.
"How long have you been here?" Felix asks before she leaves.
"I have no idea honestly, it didn't feel too long." Melody answered.

"Where is J?!" Sir Malum asks Jessie furiously.
"He got.. captured." Jessie says, feeling uneasy.
"HE WHAT?!" Malum yelled.
"What's going on?" Jacob said as he came out of Joey's office.
"Looks like spot for second- in- command is open.." Malum begins.
"Now, who is the right one for the job?"
Malum looks at Jacob as he says the last part.
