Chapter 25; The maze

Zoey, Ella, Melody and Mackenzie all walk into the cafeteria. They get their breakfast and sit down at their usual table.
"Hey Melody, do you ever.. You know, miss Jacob?" Mackenzie asks Melody
"Not really, that guy was annoying" Melody said as she took a bite out of her waffle
"Yeah.. But before he had a crush on you, when you guys were friends.. It was always fun watching Jace, Jacob, and Felix together, like the three stooges" Kenzie said that last part with a giggle as she thought about how stupid they were and how happy they all were
"Yeah.. I guess I do miss it a little.." Melody said sighing

"Hey you know what I just remembered?" Jace asked Felix who was drinking some orange juice
"What?" He asked getting excited
"That Ariel doll that Jacob used to bring into the shower with him!" Jace said starting to laugh
"Oh yeah! And how he would sing 'Under the sea da da da da'" Felix said laughing imitating Jacob's singing
"And when he used to drop it sometimes and it would land with a 'plop'" Jace said laughing
"Yeah! Either that or he was pooping!" Felix said holding his stomach from laughing
"Is that why there's always all that brown stuff in the shower??" Jace asked
"Yeah, that's why I never went in his shower!" Felix answered
"I wonder if he ever still thinks of Melody" Jace said remembering his huge crush
"Doubt it, he's probably busy with that Sir Malum guy" Felix said Sir Malum with a disgusted voice
"Yeah! He probably runs a marathon with him and at the finish line next to the cookie is a statue of Melody!!" Jace said as he bursted out with laughter
"Haha yeah!" Felix said agreeing

Felix covers his mouth quickly and starts to laugh
"Whoa!! Did you hear that one??" Felix asks proud of what just came out of him
Jace also starts laughing
"Can you burp on command?" Jace said as he forces out a loud burp
Felix attempts to burp on command, they all come out small
They go back and forth

All four of the girls exchange glances
Ew they all thought
"What do you think they're talking about?" Melody asks while she watches Felix, his head on the table from laughing so hard
"Probably you" Mackenzie said smiling
"I heard them say your name" Ella said also smiling
"I heard that too, I also heard Jacob.... And Ariel..?" Melody said confused on who Ariel is
"Felix is probably talking about how much he likes you" Zoey said joining in
"Oh stop, he doesn't like me like that anyway.." Melody said looking over at Felix who stopped laughing but was smiling as he listened to Jace's story
"You never know.." Ella said winking
"Maybe we should go over there and sit with them" Mackenzie said looking at the two of them
"Yeah" Ella said agreeing
They all picked up their trays and walked over to their table

"Hey" Ella said as they sat down with them
"Hi" Felix replied
"So what were you talking about?" Zoey asked
"Nothing.." Jace said
"It wasn't nothing, you guys were laughing like crazy!" Zoey said knowing that he's lying
"Yeah, and I heard my name" Melody said joining in
"Okay okay, we were talking about how Jacob used to bring his Ariel doll into the shower with him!" Jace spilled
All four of them start to laugh
"Is that why I would always hear him singing??" Melody asked laughing
"I wonder if it survived the fire!" Ella said also laughing
They all laughed, Joey rolled his eyes at them
"So what are you guys planning on doing today?" Melody asks them
"I'm thinking about doing the maze, because Jace would probably make fun of me if I did PARKOUR" Ella said imitating his voice
"Yeah, I think I might do that too" Mackenzie said
"Yeah me too" Zoey said agreeing
"I don't know if you'd wanna go in there.. Remember the basement Felix?" Melody asked reminding him about holding her hand
"Yeah.. Honestly I wouldn't mind going in there again" Felix said smiling back
Melody blushed a little
"I think I'll do it too" Jace said
"I guess I'll do it" Melody said
"Hey, what about Joey?" Melody asked looking at Joey who was sitting by himself, not touching his food like always
"What about him?" Jace asked obviously not caring about him
"He should come sit with us, I feel bad having him sit by himself, and maybe he could.. Come with us when we go into the maze.." Melody said knowing that Jace wouldn't like that idea
"He would probably kill us" Jace said
"No he won't! He's nice now.." Melody said remembering the night at the fire
"Hey Joey! D-" Melody quickly stopped remembering
"Do you think he's still mad?" Melody whispered to Ella, Zoey and Kenzie
"Mad about what?" Felix asked hearing her
"Uhh nothing" Melody said
"Flirting." Zoey said flatly
"Zoey!" Melody said
"You flirted with him??" Felix asked shocked
"Yeah, and he was mad about Ella, but wasn't as mad about Melody" Mackenzie said obviously wanting to make Felix jealous
"What did he say?" Felix asked curious
"Well... He didn't really get mad, he said he liked my hair.." Melody said not wanting to say what she said to him
"Oh" Felix said not knowing what else to say
"Well you said he wasn't mad, so why would he get upset if you asked him to sit over here?" Jace asked
"Yeah.." Melody said
"Hey Joey? Wanna sit with us?" Melody asked
"I'd rather drink bleach" Joey said bored
"Aww c'mon! I'm over here" Melody said winking
Joey rolled his eyes
"Please?" Mackenzie asked
"Ugh fine, just don't annoy me" Joey said as he grabbed his tray and sat down at their table
"So Joey, what's your favorite sport?" Melody asks trying to start up a conversation
"And don't say killing people!" Zoey added
"Well, I used to be on the hockey team." Joey said remembering
"Really? I thought you would've been on the football team" Jace said expecting Joey to want to tackle other people
"No, Joey was more of a quiet kid" Zoey said
"Did he bully anyone?" Jace asked
"Nope, he was shy and nice" Zoey said smiling at her brother who rolled his eyes at her smile
"Joey, why do you hate your full name?" Melody asks remembering the night at the fire
"Wait, what's his full name?" Felix asks
"Joseph Michael Carter." Zoey said
"Zoey!" Joey said annoyed at her for telling
"Sorry" Zoey said
"So, why do you hate it so much?" Melody asks still wanting to know
"Ugh.. It's because my parents would call me Joseph, they would be like: JOSEPH COME CLEAN THIS MESS YOUR SISTER MADE or JOSEPH SHUT UP or JOSEPH WHY CANT YOU BE MORE LIKE YOUR BROTHER, JORDAN or JOSEPH MICHAEL CARTER COME HERE" Joey said mocking his parents
"Oh... I'm sorry" Melody said feeling bad about asking
"It's fine" Joey said shrugging
"Hey Joey, do you wanna go do the maze with us?" Mackenzie asks
"No" Joey said
"Aww please?? It'll be fun!" Ella said
"Fine" Joey said rolling his eyes
"Hey, you gonna eat that?" Melody asks pointing at Joey's food
"Obviously not" Joey said pushing it towards Melody
"Thank you! I'm starving" Melody said as she started to eat
"Didn't you just have breakfast?" Felix asked
"Yeah, barely any, you guys ate it all by the time I woke up!" Melody said
"Uhh Joey, quick question" Jace said
"Oh god, what?" Joey asks
"How are you not dead? We never see you eat" Jace stated as he remembered never seeing Joey eat
"Oh I eat" Joey said remembering being force fed by the teachers
"What do you eat?" Ella asks
"I honestly have no idea" Joey said looking at the table
"How do you not know what you're eating?" Ella asks
Joey just shrugs, not wanting to tell them that they put food in a blender and use a tube so he would eat something
"Hey Felix, are you a vegetarian?" Melody asks Felix who she's never seen eat meat
"Yup" Felix said looking down
"Not to be rude, but I would never be able to be one" Melody said as she continued to eat Joey's breakfast
"I just think of all the poor animals dying in slaughter houses, I just can't eat it." Felix said shrugging
"I tried it for a month, it didn't work out" Melody said
"Ready for the maze?" Ella asks as Melody puts her tray away, they all nod yes and head out
