enjoy the kanima – chapter thirty eight

Having to stay at the same room as Scott and not being able to even look at him it's horrible. I wanted to cry every single time he looked at me.

We were trying to convince my dad that Matt is the killer. The four of us, at Stiles' room. I was sitting on a chair, finishing a drawing as they continued talking.

"So this kid's the real killer?" Dad asked, looking at Matt's picture.

"Yeah."

"No." He shook his head.

"Yes!" Stiles scoffed.

"No." My dad repeated, crossing his arms.

"Dad, come on. Everybody knows that the police look for ways to connect victims in a murder, okay?" Stiles murmured. "So all you have to do is, like, look through their transcripts and figure out which class they all had in common."

"Yeah, except for the fact that the rave promoter Kara wasn't in Harris' class." Dad said.

"All right, okay, you're right, sorry. Then I guess they dropped the charges against him?" I mumbled, still focusing on my drawing and my father looked at me.

"No, you know what? They're not dropping the charges. But that doesn't prove anything." Dad said, rolling his eyes.

I furrowed my eyebrows as I noticed that I was drawing a symbol in the middle of the body. Which is weird, it's the same symbol that I saw in my room.

"Scott, do you believe this?" Dad asked.

"That's really hard to explain how we know this, but you just gotta trust us. We know it's Matt." Scott said.

"Yeah, he took Harris' car, okay? Look, he knew that if a cop found tire tracks at one of the murders, and that if enough of the victims were in Harris' class, that they'd arrest him." Stiles said.

"All right, fine. I'll allow the remote possibility, but give me a motive. I mean, why would this kid want most of the 2006 swim team and its coach dead?" Dad asked us.
