forget– chapter ninety nine

third person p.o.v.

Sheriff Stilinski slid his hand through the claw marks on the car's hood. The sirens yelling around the street while he cringed, looking at the paramedic wrapping Stiles' wrist.

"What in the hell were you two thinking?"

"We were just trying to help." Scott said.

"Why don't you try and help me understand... what the hell happened here?" Sheriff yelled-whispered.

"Right, well, we were trying to gently persuade him to pull over..." Stiles murmured.

Scott pressed his lips together as he remembered being on the top of the car, in his full wolf form, roaring at the driver while it screamed at him "Demon" and tried to keep driving.

"He was getting away." Scott shrugged.

"He got away." Sheriff snapped.

Stiles looked at him. "Right. Because obviously, he's some sort of criminal mastermind, Dad!"

"Uh-huh. You want to guess what the stolen merchandise is?" Sheriff asked, walking towards the back of the van. "Hmm?" He asked as he opened the door so the boys could take a look.

Stiles looked at the big compartments. "Critical life-saving medical equipment?"

"No."

"Poison gas?" Stiles asked.

Sheriff shook his head. "Nope."

"Filled with drugs?" Stiles tried again.

"Helium."

"Helium?" Stiles frowned.

"Helium?" Stiles frowned

"This could be a good thing." Scott said, driving the jeep.

Stiles looked at him. "That we saved helium?"

Scott chuckled softly. "I mean, that... They don't need us anymore."

"Okay, well, they need us. They just don't know it." Stiles pointed out.

"We're all going off to college soon," Scott told him. "So Beacon Hills is gonna have to survive without us."

"Beacon Hills will burn to the ground without us."

"Stiles..." Scott looked at his best friend before looking at the road again. "They don't need us."

The boy looked out the window, thinking, when his phone buzzed and he quickly read the message, seeking with excitement, he pulled his phone up to show Scott. "They need us!"

The boy was sitting on Sheriff's office, thinking about what happened before Liam and Hayden found him when Sheriff Stilinski kneeled down next to him.
