Laurie POV
as I enter her room I get that same death stare she looks so sad on the inside
Me: "hi"
Paige: "do you need something?"
Me: "um are you excited about school tomorrow?"
Paige: "oh yeah I'm so excited" really sarcastically
Me: "look I'm sorry about earlier...what I said before"
Paige: "uh huh"
She was on her phone and I knew she wasn't listening.
Me: " can you listen to me for 5 minutes?" As I took her phone
Paige: "hey that's my phone!"
Me: "and you'll get it back just let me tell you something"
"I'm sorry ok what I said was out of line, I shouldn't have talked about your mom like that and I'm sorry
Paige: "stop trying to be my mom"
Me: "oh no I'm not she's our mom forever. You know and you are more a like then you think."
Paige:" I highly doubt that."
Me: "well my father died when I was little and I know it's not the same but I know what it's like. So I'm here for you, I only want to help."
It got silent so I decided to leave and then 2 words came out of her mouth that I never expected
Paige: "thank you"
Me:" your welcome now come down stairs and have dinner you must be hungry your 17 year old kid you have to be hungry."
Paige: "ok"
As I left my son was strong at me
Me:" what?"
Nicholas: "I told you that you'd fix it. You've become her only friend"
Me: "what do you mean she has friends in New York"
Nicholas: "yeah, she has "friends" that never return her calls and never talk to her, some friends"
Me: "stop snooping it's not nice. And talk to her, let her know your there"
Nicholas: "alright mom I'll meet you in the kitchen"
As Nicholas left I went to the bathroom looked at myself in the mirror and said
Me:" excellent job Laurie, dad would be proud."
As I went downstairs I saw Nicholas, Matthew, Marina, and my new friend Paige
