"Ella, Ella wake up." I stir and yawn. "We're home?" I ask. Diego nods. I sigh and grab my backpack. "Did you decide what we're going to eat?" He nods again. "Yeah. But it's a surprise for you." I smile. "Alright. I just have to call Zach." He sighs. "I'm never going to get used to this." I run up the stairs and plop on my bed, dialing Zach. "Hey Ella!" "Hey Zach! So listen, do you want to come over to my house?" I say. "Yeah sure. Is there something wrong?" "No. But you do have to feed today, remember?" I hear a sigh from the other end. "How could I forget? I have so much to tell you." He says. I smile. "Tell me when you get here. Bye." "Bye." I take a quick shower and curl my hair, tying it into a ponytail. I run down the stairs and smell bacon. Wait... bacon? I walk into the kitchen and see Diego making bacon cheeseburgers. I gasp. "My favorite! I love you so much!" I say hugging him. "I love you too. But you're going to make me drop my burger." I let go and laugh, setting up the table. "Is Zach coming?" I nod. "He doesn't want to feed off of me, you know. But I won't let him feed off of other people. At least he doesn't have to compel me." I say. He sighs. "I know. But you should be careful nonetheless. I care about you too much. Plus, you're all I have left." My lips quiver at the memory of the doctors saying our parents were dead.

[Flashback]

"Mama? Papa?" I call. Diego keeping me close to him. "Ella, let's ask one of the nurses." I nod and Diego takes my hand. "Hi. We're looking for our mom and dad. They were in the plane crash." Diego says to one of the nurses. "Who are your parents?" I zone out and look around the room. Most of the bodies were in body bags. Dead. "Ella... Ella!" I snap out of my daydream and look back at Diego, who was in tears. "N-no... they can't be dead. Th-they just can't." I whisper. Diego hugs me and I feel tears forming in my eyes. "They're gone." I whisper. "They're really gone."

[Reality]

I snap back into reality and see Diego staring at me. "What's wrong?" He points to my hands and I look down. Snow was forming. I look at him and relax, my powers slowly calming. "Are you ok? You should learn how to control your powers." I nod and hear a knock on the door. "I'll go get that." I say. I open the door and see Alice and Cole. "Hey guys!" I say, thinking happy thoughts. "Hey Ella!" I smile and let them pass me, closing the door behind them. The three all start to chit chat and I walk outside, feeling the chilly night air against my cheeks. I wonder if this is how Zach felt after his parents died. They were good people. Both lawyers. I think it's why Zach used to win in all of our arguments. I started to win after they died though. It's sad seeing that if we ever have kids, they won't have any grandparents. "Ella? What are you doing out here?" I look up and see Zach. "How did you feel after your parents died?" He sighs and takes my hands in his. "The way we get through things isn't the same as someone else's." He says. "I know. But how did you get through it? Because honestly, I can't take it." I say, tearing up. "Ella. You're not alone. You've got me, Diego, and literally all of the supernatural beings on your side." I nod. "Come on. My mom and dad would want me to eat. Not mourn for them all over again." Zach nods and heads inside behind me. "Ella, come on! Hey Zach!" Diego says, calling us over. I smile slightly, pushing my parents out of my mind.

"So what's going on?" I say. "We're going to play some music and you pick the best. So what should we listen to?" I shrug and sigh. "I'm actually really tired. Play whatever you want. I'll see you guys tomorrow." I grab Zach's hand and take him into my room. "What are you doing?" He asks. I give him my wrist and he stares at it. "Drink or I swear I'll snap your neck." I say. "Ok calm down! Why are you being like that?" He grabs my wrist and bites down. I needed a reason to cry. When he's done, he sees me crying. "This is why I wanted to stop feeding on you." He says. I wipe under my eyes and look at him. "It's a reason for me to cry. I miss them, Zach. I miss them more than I thought I did." I say. "I know. I miss mine too. But you have to just get over it as best as you can." He kisses my forehead and leaves.
