Prepping

I wake up next to Zach. I look down to make sure I still have clothes on. Good. I do. I stare at his face for about five minutes and decide that I look like a crazy stalker. I get up and walk into his bathroom, getting ready. When I'm done, I get dressed in a royal purple dress with black sandals. I put my hair up in a ponytail and sigh. "Zach, wake up." He stirs and looks up at me. "Can we just skip school?" I shake my head. "You have a game today. You miss school, you don't get to play. And yesterday, one of the cheerleaders got sick so, I'm filling in for them." I say crossing my arms. "Now, get up before I don't let you feed off of me today." I say. He sits up quickly and I giggle. "Don't worry, we're going to find a way to let you drink from a blood bag. In all seriousness, it does taste pretty good. But... that could just be my vampire ego talking." I say. He sighs. "Are you regretting not taking the cure?" He shakes his head. "I have closure knowing that I'm protecting you." I shake my head. "If you wanted the cure, you could've had it. Yeah, maybe you want to protect me. But I don't want you to have to suffer." I say, sitting on the bed and brushing his messy hair. "Hey! Stop that. I like it messy." He whines. "Oh don't be a big baby. Levántate." I say. He tilts his head. "What does that mean?" He says. "Stand up. You have got to take Spanish next year, considering it's your final year." I say. Then it hits me. Zach is leaving for college before I am. I'll probably only see him for the holidays. "Senior year. I hate that you're a year older than me." I say. He chuckles. "I know. But I am. And... don't worry. I'll keep Cynthia away from me. She and I are going to the same college." He says. A sudden anger fills my body and his lamp's light bulb shatters. I look at it and sigh. "Sorry." I say. "It's ok. Let's just get the day over with. Next week is the last week of school." He says.

Once we get to school, I automatically see Sara and Mikey talking to each other. "Hey guys!" I say happily. "Hey Ella! Are you feeling better?" Mikey says. "Yeah, I'm fine." I say. "Wait... where's Zach?" Sara says. "Oh, he went to have a quick practice with the team. They have their game today. Actually... you should come. It would be your first high school football game." I say. Sara nods. "Alright. What about you Mikey?" She says. "I have to go. Believe it or not, I'm the substitute trumpet player for the school band." He says. "Really?" Sara says. He nods. "I already knew that. I saw him at practice sometimes. I'm the substitute cheerleader, I'm playing today too." I say. "Which reminds me, I really have to go. Bye." I say. "Bye." Mikey and Sara say in unison.

I run down to the football stadium and hide behind the bleachers. I magically change into the cheerleading uniform. A green and white uniform that says 'Snakes'. "When you know the principle is a Slytherin." I say to myself and laugh. I walk out onto the field and immediately spot the cheerleaders, running over to them. "Hey! What are we doing?" I whisper to one of the cheerleaders, Sophia. "Hey Ella. Cynthia's just yelling at poor Taylor again. She does this every game." She whispers back. "And your hair? It's all wrong!" Cynthia yells. "Hey! Cut it out!" I say stepping out from the crowd. "Taylor, it's ok." I say trying to calm her down. She was crying. "You're not cheer captain. You don't tell me what to do." Cynthia says, wipping her hair behind her shoulder. "I was... and I'm gonna sign up for it next year." I say. She gasps. "You wouldn't." She says. I smile. "I would. Now everyone, let's practice the opening act." I say.
