When someone knocks at the door I almost scream a waterfall of insults and swear words at them. The idea that someone has come to bother me pisses me off to no end and I press my face into the pillow, trying to block everything out.

I cover my ears with my hands and press my lips together. If I don't answer, then they'll go away. They'll go away. They will.

"I know you're in there, my prince." Demetri's happy voice rings out from the other side of the door and I groan. "Go away, Demetri." I mutter quietly, knowing he'll hear.

He hesitates. "But I have your breakfast." He announces and I gasp. "Breakfast?" I roll over and gasp. "The fuck?" I'm in my room at home in Volterra.

I blink a few times to check I'm not hallucinating. I'm home. Have I been asleep? As I go to stand up, I realise my muscles are cramped and sore.

I've slept awkwardly and now everything hurts. There are red marks on my arms from where I leant on them. Demetri walks in after deciding my silence is fucking him off.

He looks at me and smiles. "Good morning, sleepyhead. You do realise it's half past seven?" He announces and I start coughing, spluttering and he places the tray on my bedside table.

"Jam and toast." He announces. "I don't like jam." I mumble and he sighs, frowning. "Don't be difficult, Lee." He passes me the glass of orange juice and I chug it back in one.

"I ain't eating it. I don't like jam." I insist and he sighs. "How am I home?" I question and he smiles. "We arrived yesterday afternoon. We found you face down on your bed, alseep. Your father carried you to bed. You've been here since." He elaborates and I yawn.

"I feel sleepy all the time. It's annoying." I groan softly and stand up, heading to my wardrobe. "I've missed my wardrobe. And my bed. Everything's gathering dust." I sigh and Demetri scoffs.

"It's been three months. They're bound to be a little dusty, Lee." He says as if I'm stupid. "I want to see Sulpicia. It's been forever." I leave Demetri and his breakfast tray, and start heading to the tower. "I think you should apologise to Marcus." He suggests, stopping me in my tracks.

"He told me about the things you said to him." He sounds disappointed with me and I deflate a little. "I know what I said was wrong but..." I trail off and I hear him come up behind me. "You need to learn to control your anger, Lee." He advises and I want to blow up and scream in his face but I know deep down that he doesn't deserve it.

"I know." I grunt and instead, I change direction and walk towards Marcus's room. Or our room I should say. I like having my own room though; to be able to store my own things and have space to myself.

I walk along the corridor, but stop when I reach Marcus's door. I pace the corridor, up and down, again and again, until I make my mind become clear again, and I can hear murmuring coming from behind the door.

Who's in there with him? "Marcus." I announce, opening the door, giving whoever's in there enough time to jump out the window. If it's Aro, I swear I'll....

Sulpicia sits opposite Marcus's desk, one leg crossed over the over comfortably, drinking from a large cup. She looks so normal that for a second I forget she's a vampire. Then she looks up at me in the doorway. "Lee!" Se abandons her cup and rushes at me.

Her arms wrap around me cautiously and she kisses my cheek affectionately. "It feels longer than three months. It's been so quiet without you here." She squeezes me carefully and then holds me at arms length.

"How are you feeling? I know what happened with that bastardo." She hisses, her voice becoming angry and I feel remarkably better after seeing her, the Italian goddess.

"I missed you, Sulpicia." I admit and she raises her eyebrows. "Lee? You're not one for compliments." She sounds surprised and I shyly kiss her cheek. "I realised while I was away how important family are." I whisper in her ear.

She smiles fondly and tilts her head to the side, gesturing to Marcus. "You should apologise to him, Lee. He told me what you said to him." She sounds upset and I'm reminded of their close sibling like relationship.

I turn my face away, too ashamed to shout or swear at her. "I know it was wrong." I mumble softly and she passes by and heads to the door. "I shall see you later, brother." She addresses Marcus but he just nods his head in response.

She closes the door and I turn around to face Marcus, who has sat through my conversation with Sulpicia without saying anything. I sit down in the seat on the other side of the desk and wait for him to start yelling.

He looks up at me warily. His aged face has sad written all over it and I feel quite guilty knowing I caused that. He sighs deeply and opens his mouth to speak, but hesitates.

"Go on." I encourage and he speaks. "Am I boring? Am I useless?" He repeats my words from yesterday and I feel like kicking myself. "I shouldn't have said that." I own up and he looks me in the eyes nervously.

"I was not there to help you when Matthias was there. I was too busy killing your so called mother, Jeanie." He says sharply and I nod. "I know that." I mumble softly and his lips lift in a small smile. "You're very quiet and you're usually loud and angry." He states. "You're quiet because you know what you said was wrong." He says softly and deep inside of me, I have to agree although I'll never admit it.

"Hmm." I reply and he sighs. "Lee Volturi, what am I going to do with you?" He sounds amused. "Lee Corvin." I mutter just to spite him and he gives me a look. "Stop being a child, Lee." He tuts and the defiant, angry me wants to stick up my middle finger and stamp my feet but I know as an adult that that's ridiculous.

"Your name has been Lee Volturi since you married me and even if we were not married, you'd be legally Volturi through Caius, who in case you've forgotten is your father." He grunts sarcastically and I fold my arms across my chest.

"Okay, Marcus, you win." I sigh and he grabs my hand. "I'd like you to say sorry." He insists and I know it's the least he deserves. I look at him with my lips pursed. "I know that as a rebellious child full of attitude, you don't want to apologise but I think I deserve it." He justifies and I nod.

"Sorry." I mutter and he smiles. "Thank you, Lee. Now, come here." He pats his leg and I want to wedge myself into my seat to piss him off. But we haven't had any decent amount of time to spend together in so long.

I should be taking full advantage of it. I sigh as I'm defeated at a battle that wasn't even spoken, but Marcus senses my internal dialogue. "I know you want to say no just to irritate me." He smiles and I stand up and walk around to his side of the desk, before settling into his lap, like a cat.

He starts stroking the back of my head the way he used to before all this drama started. I close my eyes and he chuckles. "I have not forgotten how much you enjoy this." He informs and my head flops onto his shoulder.

"Let's go to bed." I suggest quietly, pressing my lips against his neck and he turns his head towards me. "Bed? You've just woken up. It's just turned 7:45." He exclaims and I laugh at his confusion. "I mean, go to bed. Together." I give him a look and his eyes widen.

"Oh, you mean...bed..sex...right. I understand now." He stammers, and lifts me into his arms as I lock my legs around his waist. "You should have told me that in the first place." He teases and before I can answer, he rushes us into his bedroom.
