“It's okay, I'm here.” Roman whispered to the trembling figure in his arms softly stroking his hair, Virgil desperately clung to him digging his nails into his shoulders and his face buried in the crook of his neck, his breathing was short and quick against his skin and Roman knew that if he didn't calm down soon he would give himself a panic attack.

He rubbed his back then and kissed the top of his head. “Everything is okay Virgil, I need you to calm down for me.” Roman pleaded fearing for the trait's well being. “N...no! You-you don't don't get it! Y-you were gone, everything was was gone b-because of me.” He hiccuped. “I could-couldn't protect you.” Warm tears slipped from his flushed cheeks.

Roman felt a painful stab in his chest and cupped Virgil's face in his hands wiping away his tears. “I'm okay, you're okay, we're all okay. I promise you that Virgil, we're all here and safe.” He reassured and pressed him against his chest. “Here, listen to my heartbeat. You hear it?” He asked quietly. Virgil stayed silent for a moment trying to listen to his heartbeat, when he did he gave him a slight nod. “Good, just focus on that.” Roman instructed him in a desperate tone.

Roman drew in a deep breath. “Now, I need you to breathe with me okay? Just breathe.” With that he started breathing the way he wanted Virgil to breathe, and Virgil did the same, but when his breath hitched in his throat he began to panic. “I-I can't! Roman!” He cried out to him. “Virgil, I need you to calm down for me love.” Roman was almost panicking himself, but he had to stay calm for him, he needed him to be okay.

Virgil nodded and squeezed his eyes shut and focused on his breathing, Roman held him tighter and rubbed soothing circles into his trembling back. “In...” "e took a deep breath. “And out...” He exhaled, this time Virgil was able to breathe, he repeated the process until he was sure that he could breathe normally. Roman let out a sigh of relief and smiled down at him taking hold of his hand and placing a kiss on his knuckles and then a soft one on his wrist, it was something that always calmed Virgil down.

“I'm not going to leave you love, none of us will.” Roman whispered to him pressing a kiss on his cheek. “I promise I'd protect you no matter what, I'm going to keep that promise.” Virgil wrapped his arms around his neck and pulled his body closer against him trying to fill in any free space between them wanting to be as close to him as close as he possibly could drinking in his body heat, Roman pulled a blanket over him and held the back of his head weaving his fingers through his hair. “How are you feeling?” He asked curiously.

Virgil pressed his cheek against his shoulder and yawned. “Tired..” He mumbled to him, Roman nodded fully understanding his exhaustion, surely all the panicking and breathing had tired him out, he looked and sounded drained of all energy. “You can sleep now, I'll be with you, I'll never let you go.” He reassured, Virgil gave him a light squeeze. “Promise?” He asked.

Roman nodded and held him closer so that he could whisper in his ear, his breath tickled Virgil's ear when he spoke. “With all my heart.” And Virgil felt beyond happy, he felt safe in Roman's arms, but most of all, he felt loved.
