here was an unusual spark in Janet's grey eyes when she nodded and turned away. It was subtle, but I noticed it. "Okay then. See you soon." She then walked away, leaving me dumbfounded.

I ignored it as I began working on my packet. Five minutes into study hall and in walked Elena and Janet. "What?" I said wide-eyed.

"We didn't want you to be lonely," Elena spoke up cheerfully, taking a seat beside me along with Janet. "Guys, it's okay," I insisted. Elena shook her head.

"Hey, Elena?" Janet said softly. Elena turned to her. "Hmm?" Janet fidgeted as a blush found its way across her pale cheeks. "Didn't you say at one point your brother and friends would be coming with us to the mall?" Elena frowned apologetically. "I think I did. They won't be coming with us, though. My brother's gonna have to stay at home. He said he has project in school to work on."

I could tell Janet was suppressing a frown. "Okay, that's fine." She said after a while. Elena tilted her head curiously. "Why are you asking?"

"Oh, I just thought the more people the better but that's okay." I smiled a little at her rather lame excuse. It was obvious the girl was lovestruck. Elena shrugged. "Sorry about that."

Janet quickly looked to my homework packet. "I already finished that, do you want the answers?" She said, changing the subject. I smiled greatly. "Yeah, thanks!" Janet got her packet out of her backpack and slid it across to me. I immediately began copying the neatly-written answers, (while changing a few words here and there).
