My eyes widened. There, behind the gate stood what I assumed to be Javier. A strange emotion played in his dark eyes, like he was trying to decide and suppress something in his mind. Now, my heart beated for an entirely different reason. I gasped just before the figure moved away.

Wes moved from me, though still holding me in his arms. "What is it?" he asked, haste and concern lacing his husky voice.

I looked to the gate briefly. "I thought I saw someone. It was nothing, though," I reassured him. I was probably just paranoid. Javier had no reason to be there, my mind was simply racing ahead of me. Besides, some small part of me was still waiting for me to wake from this euphoric dream.

Wes held me tightly to his chest and kissed my forehead. "Don't worry, Flora," he said smiling. I hugged him to me and gently nuzzled against his broad chest. "We should probably go back. The buses are gonna be here soon, if they're not already." I could hear the frown in Wes's voice. I sighed as I listened to his heartbeat through his shirt, the rapid rhythm somehow calming.

"I don't want this to end," I said against him. He gently ran his fingers through my dark curls, holding onto one lock. "Me either," he said sadly. "I don't want you to skip anymore. And I'm going to stop, too." he said. I smiled, reluctantly pulling away from his embrace. "I'm glad to know I'm making you a better student," I mused.

He kissed the top of my head. "Only for you. Now, when we get to the school, go around the corner first. I'll come second. I don't want there to be rumors about you, and if they see us come at the same time..." he said, trailing off purposefully.
