We both collapsed in bed. Our bodies covered in sweat in the aftermath of love making.
But there was an obvious smile on my face and probably a glow in my eyes.
“I love you,” he said, abruptly, making my eyes snap at him in surprise.
Did he just really say that? Is he being honest or is he just saying it because he feels like he has to?
Isn't it common for guys to say that after sex? Does he mean it?
I didn't know the answer to any of those. And honestly, I didn't have enough energy to try and find the answer either. So, I decided to just believe him, for my sanity and peace.
Because I did love him. I knew I did. I knew it the day I found he was my mate. I will forever love him. No matter how much he hurts me. A part of me will still love him. That part might become bigger or smaller with time. But it will be there, and I know it.
“I love you too,” I whispered, and I couldn't hear his response, because they were the last words I murmured before falling asleep in his arms.
