rachel's pov

"that's a three percent decline from a week ago!" i snapped. "for fucks sake, these are not how my numbers work! shelby, i need diagrams and graphs in before the week's over. collin, work out the minor issues in HR and press the major ones, report back immediately. everyone else, get back to work, we're on a tight schedule!"

"yes miss alvarado." the executive team nodded and left the conference room.

as i gathered my things from the meeting, my secretary, bella, enters the room.

"miss alvarado, your three-o'clock appointment has arrived." she said quietly.

"bella, it's almost seven." i sighed. "he only showed up now?"

"good thing you had your meeting to occupy you, miss." she smiles. "he's waiting in your office, says it's rather urgent."

"urgent my ass." i scoff. "if such a matter we're so important, he would have been here on time. now, are there any oreos left in your desk?"

"of course." bella laughs, handing me one. "breakfast tomorrow at eight?"

"sure." i smile. "now head home, it's been a long day. i can handle things from here."

"no one said you couldn't." bella winked, grabbing her coat and purse from her desk. "good night, rachel."

"see you in the morning, bella." i smiled, entering my office, only to be greeted by a figure whom i dreaded having said meeting with. "mr hood, my apologies for the wait."

"no need to apologize, miss alvarado." he nods.

"you're right, seeing as you arrived here only moments ago, i shouldn't have to apologize for a damn thing." i stated. "however, as the head of this company i must, even if it's, well, you."

"i came here to talk numbers, miss alvarado, not about the tardiness i have when it comes to arriving for pointless meetings such as this one." he scoffs.

"if it's so pointless, the door's right behind you." i nod, placing files into my desk. "you haven't left yet."

"i'm not planning on it until this meeting is done and over with." he sighs. "once again, i came to talk numbers. numbers that have put my company at stake. however, seeing that numbers are your specialty, here we are."

"my company is constantly pivoted against yours, and you have he sudden nerve to ask for my help?" i ask, sitting back in my chair. "i'm amused, mr hood. i do hate games, therefore don't intend on playing any."

"please, call me calum." he nods. "now, about these numbers..."

taking a look at the file he handed me, charts and graphs and all of that annoying math shit, i was simply stunned in the downfall calum was potentially facing.

"this is preposterous." i scoffed in the form of a whisper.

"and what would you know about any of this, miss alvarado?" he raises his eyebrow.

"i know numbers, hood." i sigh. "that, and your company is going to fall deeply under mine if you don't let me help you."

"i really don't like the sound of this." he mumbled rather loudly.

"too bad hood, because you're stuck." i smirked as i leaned back in my chair.

calum hood owned hood enterprises, i owned alvarado incorporated. his company is the one pinned against mine. this wasn't going to end well.
