Chapter 39 "Let her go"

She then felt Mina's grip on her arms loosen, she looked back at Mina and saw her falling to the ground loosing her consciousness.

"Mina!"}

"Mina shi. Are you okay?"

Mina whimpers she knows her manager's voice too well, she covered her eyes from the incandescent light above her, surely it wasn't heaven yet. Mina tries to open her eyes and saw an IV drip on her right hand, "W-what happened?"

"You've collapsed."

Mina wondered her eyes around, she can only see her manager inside the spacious room and obviously it was an hospital.

'She've left again', Mina shut her eyes in frustration.

"Good thing, Chaeyoung was there to bring you here." Her manager told her the story she knew but Mina knows the truth.

"I see."

"The other girls have a practice today for tomorrow's music festival, you can skip that practice for now."

"I think I can practice later." Mina replied.

"The doctor says, you need to rest."

Mina diverted her attention to her side, when the familiar voice and figure comes closer to her bed.

"Oh. Chaeyoung ah, thank you." Her manager help Chaeyoung on the tray of food she was carrying in.

"And you need to eat." Chaeyoung followed as she prepare the table bed.

Mina was just looking at the situation with her mouth agape. She couldn't believe it, she was so used on being frustrated about Chaeyoung always leaving and evading her.

"You've stayed." Mina softly said, it wasn't understandable as her voice was rough from her sore throat.

"I did." Chaeyoung mouthed, there's no sound came out from her but Mina knew how to read her lips so well.

"I'll be with the other girls, there's a security outside so you don't have to worry and Chaeyoung volunteered to stay here at the moment." Her manager said in one go, leaving them after checking everything in the room.

"How are you feeling?" Chaeyoung pulls on a chair beside Mina, she was pale as a snow.

"Weak, but I'm fine."

"You need to eat."

"Sorry to bother you."

"I'm not bothered."

"You sound so mad at me again." Mina rolled her eyes at her but she received a stern look.

"I'm worried." Chaeyoung debated. She can't help but to think of all Mina's effort that leads to this, she was so stubborn and surely persistent.

Chaeyoung was always aware of Mina's effort; she knew from her crew how she always tries to look for her at the cafe eventhough the girl have a busy schedule. How she manage to go at the building's rooftop next to her cafe just to talk to her, and it was already twilight, for some reason Mina knew that she was there at time of dawn, and she manages to be there.

Chaeyoung couldn't think more of a word besides crazy.

Mina held on to Chaeyoung's arm as she support herself to sit up while Chaeyoung grabs the spoon and digs into the soup, she wanted to help in exchange of the effort.

"Careful, it's hot."

"I-I can eat it myself." Mina grabs the utensil from her and starts to eat on her own.

"You grew so stubborn."

Mina weakly smile at Chaeyoung's judgement.

Chaeyoung decided to sit and turn on the TV as she waits for Mina to finish eating. The silence would be defeaning without some added noise.

"Are you done?" Chaeyoung stood up again, clearing the tray and table from the side.

"Yes. Thank you."

"Always." Chaeyoung gave her a smile before going back to her seat to continue watching a korean variety show.

"So you're staying huh."

"I can't leave you like this."

"You'll still leave then." Mina retorted, comprehending that Chaeyoung will be leaving once she's fine.

"Let's talk when you're feeling well, you need to rest." Chaeyoung squeezes the latters hand, reassuring her.

After some time, Mina had slept in again. She was fast asleep through the day, like her body have wanting that rest for a long time. Chaeyoung never left her, she was occassionally checking with the nurse to make sure her blood pressure was normal.

"Minaaaaariiiii!"

Mina woke up from the screeching sound, but was happy to see the girls came to visit her. Everyone didn't expect that Chaeyoung would still be at the room with Mina, same with Mina they assume that Chaeyoung was going to dodge this again.

Everyone get in and greeted Mina cheerfully, while Chaeyoung moved in to the side to give them some space.

"What have you done?!" Jeongyeon lastly entered the room, closing the door behind her.

"Calm down." Nayeon pulled Jeongyeon's arms, indicating the she was already fuming before she enters the room.

"We've already talked about this, but you've acted like an asshole!" Jeongyeon was aggravated, she hover over Nayeon to take a good look at Chaeyoung, "Are you really that shameless?"

Nayeon gave up on Jeongyeon: her protective instincts was always stronger. Everyone in the room looked at them, and luckily there manager wasn't still in the room to witness it.

They know how mad Jeongyeon is, but they can't believe she'll explode like this.

"You don't understand."

"I understand now! That's how you want to treat her!" Jeongyeon yelled and Jihyo steps in as well trying to back her away.

"Jeongyeon!" Mina gasped at the next scene.

Chaeyoung's face drifts to the side receiving the hard slap, her cheek was flashing red; She didn't expect it at all.

"That's for pretending you've listened to me!"

Chaeyoung walked out of the room cupping her cheek. She wouldn't want anyone to notice how red her right cheek was, so she rushed to the bathroom and washed her face as if it will remove the mark.

She looked down at the sink as the water run through, her eyes was close looking back at what she've done. Chaeyoung knows how hurt she was, but she didn't know what's right or wrong right now.

'Do you want revenge?' Chaeyoung asked herself looking back how she hardly avoided Mina, 'She doesn't deserve to be treated like that!' She washed her face again to erase the eerie part of her.

"Chaeyoung ah." Jihyo called her out, she was actually going to leave at the hospital, "I'm sorry about Jeongyeon."

"No. I deserve that." Chaeyoung sighed brushing her hair, "Take care of Mina for me."

"Are you leaving again?" Jihyo asked when she was about to walk away.

Chaeyoung stops from her trance as she heard the word, 'again'. She didn't want to look back, she never likes looking back.

"I'm not in the position to know how you feel." Jihyo continued, "But Mina tried everything to let you know she'll stay."

Chaeyoung looked up at the white ceiling on where she was standing, she closed her eyes and tried to stop the tears from going. Jihyo sounded like Jeongyeon the other night - worried and reassuring.

"If you don't want her, let her go."
