How long?

When we moved back from the rather passionate kiss, we both had shimmering eyes.
"That was...", I started but didn't know what to say. Amazing? Highly needed?  What I should have done all along?
"Just a goodbye kiss, I know.", he sighed. What? No! Anything but that!
"Was it?", I chuckled. "A bit to, uhm, intimate for a goodbye kiss, don't you think?"
"Then what was it?", his eyes roamed my body. I had completely forgotten that he was still a young vampire with more than just a bit heightened emotions. Oh, the thoughts he might have right now...
"I'll leave that to you to figure out.", I grinned and forced myself not to kiss him again.
"You're very cheeky today. What happened?", he questioned and I shot him a sneaky look.
"Oh, you know. Many things.", I smiled.
"You will never let me fully understand you, will you?", he laughed. That laugh... How his lips moved upwards and his vocal chords formed this beautiful sound... it was really impossible to imagine him being gone.
"Oh, I will, one day." I took in every last bit of his movements, fearing to lose him yet again if I didn't.
"Caroline? It's time for our final set-up!", Ayana disturbed us from inside the house and I bit my lip to not curse loudly.
"I should go then.", he said, fidgeting with his hands nervously like a little boy who had something to hide.
"Right...", I sighed. Couldn't he just stay? With me? "I'll see you soon."
"I certainly hope so.", he let go of my hands and turned around, the smile not leaving his face. After he had fully disappeared, I made my way back into the house. I was not really sure how to get out of all this since sending me back without my memory didn't seem like an option. At least not for me.
"Are you ready for the ritual?", Ayana wanted to know as she was already lighting up the candles. I just shrugged my shoulders, not knowing what answer to give. "Then let's begin."
I remembered the spell quite well. When Ayana started to cast it, I knew about how much time I had until Klaus would scream. This time, I couldn't save him and I also didn't want to, afraid of the most likely outcome. There was no way I would go through the horror of losing him again. The objects were being burnt to ashes in the meantime and I started to become nervous, still not having figured out how to escape this situation. And then, there it was. Klaus' scream, which tore my heart to shreds. I didn't stand up to rush through the door, I didn't even move my arm, just flinched a bit. Ayana had almost reached the end of the spell now.
"Stop!", I yelled and she opened her eyes in confusion.
"What is it?", she demanded an answer and I shot up to take a few steps back.
"I can't do this!", I admitted. "I can't leave like this! I don't want them to forget me nor to forget my time here."
Ayana's eyes darkened. "You have to. This is not your era!"
"That may be right but honestly, right now, I don't care. I'll stay here a little longer. Try something to send me back and I'll kill you.", I threatened her.
"I do not recognize you.", the witch impatiently growled. "I cannot believe you would be this stubborn! We were almost finished here!"
"And we are.", I stated. "You will not have to perform this spell again. Thank you for all the help, I am taking a leave now."
I reckoned, by now, Klaus' werewolf gene had been sealed off and it was safe to go outside.
"You're making a big mistake!", Ayana yelled after me.
I didn't care if I was. If so, at least it felt good at the moment.
Slamming the door shut behind me, I took a step outside to breathe in the fresh air. Honestly, the last thing I wanted to do was rush things and destroy it all. If Mikael spotted me now, I was dead. I obviously couldn't risk that. The best plan was to carefully search for Klaus or Rebekah and then wait until the hybrid killed his mother. After that, I had no idea how to go on. Should I travel with the Mikaelsons? My only reason to be in this time was to make sure Klaus was okay. Not being with him kind of contradicted that.
By now, I had made my way to the place Klaus werewolf gene had been sealed away. None of the participants of said ritual were here anymore, which was good on the one hand but aweful on the other.
"Klaus?", I only whispered to not be spotted by other creatures. I really had no idea where he could be. After all, I didn't know his past by heart.
"Nik, where are you?", I flashed around quickly everywhere in town, while still being careful not to get caught. After only ten minutes, I had searchd every inch and corner and there was not a sign of my boyfriend. In my mind, there was just one more place he might be and so I made my way out of town and up the hill to reach the place of stars.
"Klaus..."
And there he was, sitting on the hill, looking at the sky.
"Caroline?" I saw him wiping away tears. "I thought you were long gone."
I took a seat next to him, gently smiling. "I heard you scream so I decided to stay."
"But what about your friends?", he wanted to know, turning his head to look at me.
"They can wait.", I told him. "You're more important."
"Am I?" Our eyes met. His looked like he wanted to hug me and rip off my clothes at the same time. A more than tempting mixture.
"Is that so hard to believe?", I asked and lovingly put a hand on his leg.
"Yes actually. Since even my own brother seems to turn against me when I need him most?", he said bitter. The ritual...
"What happened to you?", I whispered. He got an inch closer. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see the stars vaguely blinking far away.
"I just found out a part of me is a werewolf. And it is because of that why my father now hates me more than ever. He has sealed it away. It was such an incredible pain!", the thought of it made him flinch. My heart ached seeing him in such a state. "And if that had not been enough, I found my biological father."
"You have?", that was news even to me. Klaus knew his actual father?
"Yes. Dead on a spike. Killed by Mikael.", he growled in pain.
"Oh my god.", I was honestly really shocked. I would not have thought this to be possible but Mikael really could get even worse.
"What are you going to do now?", I wanted to know.
He eyed me as if he was worried I'd judge him. "I am going to kill my mother. She helped him with the spell."
I didn't give him an answer at first. What was I supposed to say? I'd already known this, it wasn't a surprise.
"Are you mad?", he sounded a bit scared.
"No. I get it.", I shifted my head. "Do what you have to do."
He gave me a sweet smile and seemed to finally have calmed down from the event. I gently stroke his shoulder to signal him, I was there, no matter what. Surprisingly though, I felt him tense up by my touch, closing his eyes for a second as if he was trying to hide something.
"Are you okay? Moreover, are you certain you don't want to execute your plan right now to be over with it?", I asked concerned.
"The night is long. There might be something I want to do even more urgent right now.", he moved closer. "Despite everything, I cannot seem to let that thought go."
"And what is that?", I grinned.
"Since I've been turned I have been so emotional. And after that kiss... certain emotions have been lingering in my mind."
Sweet jesus. I had been right about his thoughts.
"Klaus...", I sighed, kind of wanting it too. But this wasn't what I came here for. I wanted to save his life, not enjoy myself all the time.
"You want it too.", he said in an unintentionally seductive way.
But he was here... alive. And he didn't know it now but he was still my boyfriend. So this shouldn't be wrong.
"Do I?", I chuckled slightly and was about to say something else when he moved so close that I could feel his breath on my lips.
"You tell me.", he only breathed out those words. And that was enough to almost make me go mad. I would have resisted him if I'd wanted to, but to be honest, he was giving me such chills, I couldn't even fathom.
Without another word, I filled the small space left between us and pressed my lips on his, enjoying his sweet taste as he got into the kiss as well. I heard him hungrily groan and couldn't help but grin about such new vampirish behavior. I remembered quite well how I had been when first being turned and seeing him like this was so cute!
His hand was reaching out to me, unsure if he was allowed to touch me. To take the decision from him, I started tearing away the leather he was wearing above his shirt and then slipped my hand underneath the soft material. As a result, he got rid of his shyness and laid his hands on my waist. I was going in for another kiss when he suddenly pulled away to give me a worried look.
"What if I get you, you know, pregnant.", he brought out, panting. I wasn't sure if he really cared because the lust in his eyes implemented otherwise.
"We're dead, remember? Vampires can't procreate.", I reminded him and got up on my knees.
"Oh right... what are you doing?", he wanted to know. I just grinned and positioned myself on his lap to have a better look at his face.
"I'm blocking out the stars.", I told him.
"Don't worry, you're a much better sight.", he smiled back and put his hands in my hair. His touch felt good and comforting. I wasn't sure if I would ever be able to move on from him. It's not like I wanted to but the thought of it was kind of crazy. This really felt like we could be forever.
I moved forward and kissed him again and it soon became a hot make-out session. He shifted underneath me and carefully pulled my dress over my head.
"You are so beautiful.", he whispered in the quiet as I felt his hands wander the form of my body.
"You can't even see me, it's dark.", I chuckled and he pressed a kiss onto my collar bone.
"I don't have to.", he whispered close to my neck. I could feel his veins pulsating beneath his eyes. He couldn't control them yet.
"You have no grasp on your vampire features.", I laughed, giving him a peck on the head. It was funny to feel his long hair again since I had kind of gotten used to the short hair while I had been with him in New Orleans.
"Sorry.", he quickly apologized. "I didn't mean to."
"Don't worry, it's fine.", I smiled. "Do you want to do something that feels really good?"
His eyes curiously shimmered in the dark. I offered him my bare skin, which confused him.
"Bite me."
"What?", he gasped. "Is this some sort of weird kink?"
"Just do it. It's called blood-sharing and it feels marvelous, believe me." I remembered the time his future self had saved me from the werewolf venom, offering me his blood to heal me.
Klaus carefully moved his head closer and slowly tugged his fangs into my flesh, causing me to let out a slight gasp. A sensationally pleasant feeling filled my body as I felt him drink my life's essence. It was like our heartbeats became one. When he moved his head back and revealed his bloody mouth and face filled with the pulsating veins, he was in a state of pure joy. Seconds later, he kissed me again, grabbing my hair and pulling me closer. With every kiss, we became more passionate and soon couldn't help but take it to the next level.
And as the air around us lingered coldly, we felt none if it, being too focused on each other.

When we were finally ready to stop and dropped to the ground exhausted, it took us both a few minutes to gather our thoughts. It was at the brink of dawn and the sun was slowly making its way up but was covered by clouds.
"Didn't you still plan on killing your mother?", I asked, still panting a bit.
"Oh yes. I almost forgot about that.", I heard his voice next to me. "Will you accompany me?"
I heard him slip his clothes back on while I also reached for my long dress.
"I'll put on clothes and follow you in a few seconds.", I told him. "I'm sure I'll find you."
"Okay.", he stood up. "Don't take too long."
He gently gave me a kiss on the head and then vanished into the night. Sighing, I put my dress back on and looked at the stars. For how long would I stay here? How much could I change history just to make sure Klaus was safe and sound? Just for how long...

Hello everyone!
Gosh, honestly, it wasn't easy writing this chapter. I'm not good with describing stuff like those scenes on the hill. I do hope you liked it anyways.
Have a great week and see you next time!
