21. He's Coming On the Clouds

It's You again God,

I am so excited for this new day because You are in it! More than that, You already know what will happen today, so why should I have any concerns? I woke with this song about You in my head today and I am sure You are speaking to me:

He's coming on the clouds, kings and kingdoms will bow down
And every chain will break, as broken hearts declare His praise
Who can stop the Lord Almighty?

Our God is the Lion, the Lion of Judah
He's roaring with power and fighting our battles
And every knee will bow before You
Our God is the Lamb, the Lamb that was slain
For the sin of the world, His blood breaks the chains
And every knee will bow before the Lion and the Lamb
Oh every knee will bow before the Lion and the Lamb

So open up the gates, make way before the King of kings
Our God who calls the saved is here to set the captives free
Who can stop the Lord Almighty?

Our God is the Lion, the Lion of Judah

I tend to get so caught up in the day to day concerns that I tend to forget that there is a bigger picture, an amazing outlook for all who know You Jesus! I am so grateful for the amazing glimpse into the future I see as I read Your Word:

""Look, he is coming with the clouds," and "every eye will see him, even those who pierced him"; and all peoples on earth "will mourn because of him." So shall it be! Amen. "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.""
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭1:7-8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Mankind can be sure that as each day passes, we are one day closer to that day when You will be seen, coming on the clouds. When You ascended into heaven Jesus, Your startled disciples were given this promise:

"They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. "Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.""

It's so clear and so I wait expectantly, knowing that You will return and things will be different! The song lyrics speak of the Lion of Judah, a powerful symbol, first found in Genesis:

"You are a lion's cub, Judah; you return from the prey, my son. Like a lion he crouches and lies down, like a lioness—who dares to rouse him?"
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭49:9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Then we see it in Revelation:

"Then one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.""
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭5:5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The amazing thing is that Jesus, You are both the triumphant Lion and the Lamb! I praise You because You are the promised Lion of the tribe of Judah and one day, everyone on earth will see Your deity.  Indeed, kings and kingdoms will bow down —yes every person from every nation will know You are King!

I love the way that You are worthy of this role. It's not the usual way of things! It isn't by the fierceness or the force of Your power that You are worthy. You triumph because You became a Lamb:

"Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God's people. And they sang a new song, saying: "You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.""

Thank You Jesus for living a perfect, sinless life and in shedding Your blood, You defeated sin and death! Thank You that Your blood breaks the chains! Your death and resurrection have resulted in so many benefits for me! I have peace right now as my sins are forgiven and eternal life for my future! I so look forward to being part of an eternal kingdom where You receive all the honour and worship. You will rule this kingdom Jesus —the Lion of the tribe of Judah!

I so look forward to that day when You will come on the clouds Jesus but today I know that I have an important role to do that I won't be able to do in Heaven, for it will be too late! I must tell people about You so that when You come, You will take them to be with You forever!
